I wouldn't say he sucked, but he did surface in a bad era which credit to him he mostly cleaned out. Trouble with Tyson though was his poor discipline and lack of professionalism, prime Vitali would have killed any version of Tyson that wasn't 100% prepared. The Vitali that destroyed Hide in two would only take a few more rounds to deal with any version of Tyson after 88. The Tyson that blew out Holmes, so called prime, is another matter. I think that is a close and brutal fight. Probably goes to cards.

 

The losses to Holyfied stand out.. he wasn't shot then.. especially the first fight

 

Lennox' mom picks Vitali on this one.

 

EASY WORK for Tyson.

Prime Mike Walks thru Vitali with relative ease in about 2-4. Fight wouldn't even be mildly competitive.

99-2004 Mike vs prime Vitali would be less of a mismatch. And in that matchup i'd give Vitali a fairly reasonable shot at losing via decision as opposed to getting KTFO which would still be the most likely scenario.

Mike Tyson always struggled against tall opponents.... even when they weren't very talented. Tyson, although my favorite heavyweight growing up... never came close to beating anyone on Vitali's level... not even taking Vitali's physical advantages into consideration. Tyson doesn't stand much of a chance.

 

Sorry, what is Vitalis level? his whole reputation is based upon his loss to an old Lewis on Cuts and then ruling over quite possibly the worst set of hevyweights ever and hes not even the best heavyweight in his own era.

Do you think a prime Tyson would have struggled with that version of Lewis?

Tyson didnt struggle against taller opponents, its difficult to look good against guys who have no intention of fighting or winning and they are there merely to last the distance and thats exactly what Vitali would be doing when he realised Tyson would be a little too fast for him. Vitali would simply be too slow for Tyson

Vitalis so called physical advantages helpd him in no way against the former MW and featherfisted Chris Byrd, yet Ike took out Byrd in 5.

Smith and Tucker could have made more of a fight of it, but they didnt. I wonder why?

And all of these opponents Tyson apparently struggled with...he actually beat them handily on the scorecards. Tucker won a total of one round and Smith, i dont think he won a single round. Thats hardly a struggle.

The first time Tyson ever struggled in his career was when he was picking up his gumshield in the 10th round in Tokyo.

 

tall guy tucker was very talented, more than VK. he struggled though he didnt do a bad job of keeping iron mike off him.

VK is a lot slower than Tucker, he would be less able to keep tyson off.
