Oh I don't know. It's seems like a perfect fight to boost the profile of his pro American style party. Pick a fight against a hopeless Syrian that doesn't stand a chance and smash him to pieces.
Correct. This move seems to be about politics and the general public and not about the perspectives of a limited number of hard core (and irrelevant to his political future) boxing fans. If this is about politics, this may well be his last fight.
Vitali needs that WBC International Silver Heavyweight Championship of the World to cement his legacy and secure election.
Is this thread awaiting another "There's nobody else out there" comment? Because quite frankly, this is getting ridiculous. Sosnowski, Briggs, Solis, Adamek, Chisora and now Charr. So out of his last 5 opponents, only Chisora really showed anything. How does that justify fighting Charr? Politics or whatever, it's hypocritical to criticise others for undermining Boxing, but then to go and fight Charr. It he really wanted to fight a live contender, he could call people out in public. One of them would clearly accept. Maybe it's the money on offer? Who knows. But one thing is for certain: This 'fight' is a joke.
Well can you guys really blame him? His body is ****ed up. That shoulder injury was the last straw. Haye should just quit beating up on old men and whine like a *****. Just focus on Chisora and try to secure a rematch with Wlad instead. Vitali is done! Everybody could see that during the last rounds of the Chisora fight. He really had to dig deep to finish the fight with his shoulder in that condition. He is not going all in by fighting Haye. Fighting a running dodger like Haye would just mean the end for his shoulder.
it's totally appropriate that vitali is fighting some unknown fighter with zero chance for his very last fight, seeing that his entire career, aside from his longevity, has consisted of mediocrity. vitali has truly come full circle.
http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/sport/story/154133.html A lot of the media have been reporting this as a 'fair well' fight for Vitali. I don't think it will be his last fight either.
If this is for real it will be an ez KO for Vitali. I'm not going to be too critical of Vitali for taking an easy fight at this late date in his career--his last 3 fights have all been against top competition. If the fight is in Kiev Ustinov or Boystov (or even Dimitrenko) would have been better, more dangerous, opponents.
Charr has never beaten a prime HW or a top 25 guy. Good easy fight again Vitali. Vitali gave up any chance of being an ATG when he started fighting these bums. When was the last guy he fought that was bigger than him or of similar size? Tyson Fury would dominate him and out muscle him easy.
