Prime Tommy Hearns in today's era. How many Divisions can he clean out?

25-28 year old Tommy would obliterate everyone from 147-160.
People need to remember that Tommy was the most natural boxer of the four Kings,although Ray was slightly easier on the eye.
The problem guys would have is the same that cruiseweights fighting Klitschkos have;that rangefinder is like a big scaffold pole and even Floyd would toil badly trying to avoid and get by it.
If you had to pick one division,I'd put Tommy at 154.
I said in an earlier thread that I think Ward is the only style at the top level that Tommy might have problems with,although I'm not saying he loses.

 

If Tommy was in his prime today people would be talking about him being the GOAT.

 

He takes 147 and 154 with relatively ease.. He could struggle @160, but i would favour him to beat anyone there.

 

This. I can't believe that some people think the current crop of middleweights would trouble him.

 

He would outbox anyone in the 160 division.. But Martinez, Golovkin, Piroq etc. certainly have the power to take him out.. As another poster mentioned, Barkley beat him @160..
Hearns is one of my all time favourites and i believe that he was close to being unbeatable @147 and 154.. But the more powerful middleweights will always have a puncher's chance against him

 

I don't think he would clean out any of them. At 147 he'd lose to Mayweather and he might have lost to Pacquiao as well. At 156 he might have a shot at cleaning that division out because I think he could KO Cotto, Chavez Jr, but then he'd be at a disadvantage against Martinez.

At 168 he loses to Andre Ward but he might beat Carl Froch. At 175 he loses to Chad Dawson but beats everyone else.

 

Lara and Kid Chocolate would give him problems.

 

Tommy could be knocked out or outboxed. Floyd could outbox him. Martinez could knock him out. Pacquiao it's a toss up where I favor Tommy.

 

Floyd has everything. We saw what Sugar Ray did to Hearns. We saw that he can be outboxed. He has power but he was a head hunter and he made mistakes that could get him outpointed.

 

Yeah have to be kidding me, Hearns would KO Martinez and Mayweather. His power was unreal. He's one of the most polished boxers in history, the problem with Hearns was he had a shaky shin and he didn't fight well on the inside.

It just proves how good SRL and Hagler was when they beat Hearns.

 

The first two are possible(but unlikely),and I already gave some thought to Martinez earlier.
But your last point suggests to me you are joking.:think

 

SRL had to turn slugger to knock him out, Mayweather wouldn't & couldn't do that. SRL wasn't outboxing Tommy.

 

Paul Williams was like a Hearns. He lost by getting KO'd and eventually boxers figured out his blind spot and attacked it. I think Tommy would have success beating certain guys who aren't technical but against a Martinez I see him getting beat unless he can get the KO.

And against Floyd he gets beat because even with all that power Floyd is too hard to hit clean and he's not going to outbox him.

 

No seriously Pacquiao is hard to beat. Tommy has a shaky chin and could be knocked out. Yes if you're going by physicality then Tommy had the size and height but if Tommy head hunts and brawls and goes for the KO he could get KO'd. I think it is a 50-50 fight depending on how Tommy goes into the fight.
