The Frampton fight wasn't the most exciting thing ever to be seen between the ropes, but it was a step up and he dealt with his opponent with ease....For some reason I'm still not convinced though.

 

Good point, McGuigan seems blinded by his loyalty to Frampton. How can Barry suggest Frampton is at the same level as Munroe when he has beaten Martinez and Terrazas and held his own against Nishioka.

Would Frampton have gone the distance with Nishioka? No. I'm not saying he wont one day, he's just nowhere near that level now.

Whether Frampton should have looked to engage more and win more convincingly in the latter stages of the fight is open to debate but he put on a good showing, and showed a brain to go with the brawn he's shown in previous fights. Not for the first time, Watt's commentary was out of kilter with what was actually happening.

 

In that case it's a good job Frampton doesn't have a ***** like Watt in his corner whose advice would be to plough into whoever his opponent is in order to try and look exciting.

 

When are Jim Watt and Barry McGuigan in the studio together next...?

 

McGuigan has looke better witan he got older over the years. He looks dead scuffy in this video..

He didn't embarrass himself by actually means (infact he done himself proud), but held his own ?, he was completely dominated for the vast majority of the fight, and in the end was lucky enough not to get stopped in the final round. (a British ref would of pulled out a mercy stoppage for us.)

The Terrazas fight was a tremendous performance from Munroe, but who knows what the ridiculous amount of travelling Terrazas had to go through took out of him. He was easily beating Munroe in the early rounds, but just couldn't sustain his work, and was worn down by Munroe's pressure and bodywork. Who knows how things may have gone had Terrazas been allowed ideal preparation and travel. It's a real shame for Munroe that his biggest win has somewhat of a black mark over it.

I'm not convinced Munroe is still in his prime. He wasn't overly inspiring against Andrei Isaeu, and that fight could have easily gone against him. He's 32 years of age now and with his size it certainly can't be easy to still make Super-Bantamweight and be effective. I suppose the Quigg fight will tell us all about what he has left. It can't be argued that Munroe has certainly done a lot more than Frampton has in his career so far, but I feel Carl has what it takes to beat Munroe at this juncture, whether Munroe can get the better of Quigg or not.

 

McGuigan is way too emotionally attached to Frampton and if any discussions on him take place in studio he should be told to shut the **** up till he can take the blinkers off.As for the fight,i dont buy into all this he should have put up a better and more exciting crap.He went up in level,took it comfortably and got another one under the belt which is all important for himself,and his marketability.He has plenty of time to mature and realise when an oppo is there for the taking oot but as long as he listens to his corner the now thats the key.I wish Barry wouldnt fill his head with **** as Framptons starting to sound like a petulant little ***** with the pish hes hearing on the box coming from Baz and if it carries on i think a lot of folks will want to see him on his arse because of this.Ringside is like a schoolyard when Frampton is discussed,purely because McGuigan will hear absolutely no opinion other than his to be relevant.

Barry is well and truly deluded.

Quigg would of blown him away and i'm sure that Rendall would of done the same as well.

 

Quigg wouldn't of blown away the Mexican, Frampton produced a great display. He stuck to his game plan an executed it with ease and finished strongly.

Possibly over cautious but against an unbeaten fighter going into the latter stages of the fight there was no need for taking risks, the fight was in the bag and it was a job well done.

Took Quigg 9 rounds to beat this guy, Frampton did it 2.

Quigg took 6 rounds to beat Voronin, Frampton did it in 3.

I fancy Monroe to beat Quigg but I'd like to see Quigg stay unbeaten and set up an great British tear up with the Jackal.
