Can Tommy Hearns or Sugar Ray go through Oscar De La Hoya's resume undefeated?

that many elite fighters....you're bound to have an off night once and most of these guys can take even Leonard or Hearns on an off night.....especially Hopkins/Mayweather/Mosley

 

Any answer other than "Maybe Bernard Hopkins" can be deemed the result of being jabbed in the forehead too many times.

 

Hopkins is not in Hearns and Leonard's class, he gets dominated by both IMO. Oscar's resume is impressive, but Hearns and Leonard both run through that undefeated.

 

Pretty much this. My one concern would be the naturally bigger Hopkins against them. Outside of those fights, SRL and Hearns would be betting favorites in every contest.

That said, much bigger upsets in boxing have occurred and if given the choice of them or the field, I would take the field all day.

It's a good resume and all, but tbh I feel they both could and should through unscathed. Am I the only one who thinks that tito has a chance against hearns, just purely because of punch power?

 

As far as upset picks go, I think that one's probably got the best chance of happening out of the potential ones on the list.

 

I never said he would win . . . I said he is the only one that stood a chance. I think they both beat everyone handily. However, if Pernell was not on coke and at 147 it would be an interesting match-up for both. He would Give SRL more issues than Tommy but I think he, at the top of his game, would stand a chance. His first clear lost was when he was completely strung out against Tito.

 

The tru question is, can Oscar walk away undefeated on SRL and Tommy's "welterweight" resume undefeated.

 

No, because he'd lose to Duran, Benitez and definitely Ray and Tommy themselves.

 

I agree. The unfortunate thing about Oscar is that the weight which he had the best power and was the most impressive was 140. Somehow even with his big enough frame, he never really was as impressive at 147.

 

I'm just glad some idiot hasn't tried to argue that Tito would have a chance against either.

 

I don't see Tito having the chance to beat Hearns. Hearns had a great right and for Tito to get close to Hearns to land his left hook, he would be in range of Hearns right, and he never faced a guy with that kind of legendary right. I think the guy who has a better chance to beat Hearns is Hopkins at 160. All the other guys, Hearns would beat with the toughest next to Hopkins being Whitaker. Ray would also have trouble with Hopkins. Hopkins was a big middleweight.
