True, but Leonard did have him hurt and all over the place in the mid-rounds as well. Had they been scored correctly, the lead Tommy had at the time of the stoppage would've been more narrow.

 

I think it is strength here and Ray could match his speed, but it would not be easy for Ray. I think Ray wins a UD but not a wide decision, and Pernell wins some of the early rounds until Ray starts to find his range with his right hand. Ray's left would not do much to Pernell. It would be a good fight and basically Ray wins because this was not the best weight for Pernell. They are both top top fighters of high level. When it comes down to guys this close in skills, then the weight becomes the deciding factor, and Ray was a strong welterweight as Benitez,Duran and Hearns know.

 

Is it the weight-drained version that Duran faced in their first match? :think
