I think will be almost impossible to break it. To break Pacquiao's record one has to start pro boxing at the age of 16. It is a long way road to go with so many obstacles. As you moving up your opponent is getting bigger as well and you will come to point that you can't move up anymore without risking your health in return. Yes, Pac has two catchweight titles at 147 and 154 but the thing is....is there any former flyweight champion in history who has a chance of beating
Cotto at 145 and Margarito at 150? That is the mean reason why is Pac will be remember for many generations to come.

Pac has achieved great things and his 8 divisions is unlikely to be matched in the current format. Pac is an all time great but there are other fighters, some of which are still fighting today which are greater than Pac.

Whilst being an 8 division champion is great, it doesn't make you the best ever.

 

Pac's record won't be broke for a very long time, for the likes of a Pacquiao don't come along very often - maybe once every 30 years, or so , if we are lucky.

 

The real question is...who really wants to? Once you get to a certain number, say, 5 or 6 then you're already a household name and don't need belts to promote yourself. Nobody cares about Pac's 8 titles other than his casual fans who act as if it's as valuable as Roger Maris' homerun record.
