I have the Beau Jack (I believe 4th) fight, Gatica, and Balanos Highlights....is this all there is of Ike Williams or is there some I'm missing? Thanks!
There are also highlights of him vs Livio Minelli at about 17minutes in lenght, and his complete fight against Fritzie Pruden which was a good action fight.
Man I would kill to see his fights with Gavilan and Montgomery :verysad Was the first guy to put Kid down, Robinson couldn't even in 2 fights. I don't even know if Montgomery has any footage out does he? I've actually never recalled seeing any.
hya R, I saw the PRIME LW Ike Williams almost kill Beau Jack in Philly, 1948. Oh was Ike great that night !.Best LW I ever saw that night. I saw him a couple of more times ringside, but Ike was at his best as a lightweight . There was talk about Ike hooking up against WW Ray Robinson at WW, but Ike declined, telling someone, "why should I, Robinson does everything BETTER than I ". Ike got into trouble with the Boxing Guild of that time and had to "play ball" or not get fights...What a great bunch of lightweights of that time,all whom I saw ringside such as Ike, Beau Jack, Bob Montgomery, Willie Joyce, Sammy Angott, Freddie Dawson, all who would be LW champion today...Yessir !
No Vic, I did not see Ike lose to Willy Joyce. I believe both bouts were in Philly ? But I saw the marvelous boxing Willie Joyce in MSG...What a classy boxer was Joyce, but guess who outboxed LW Joyce ? FW Willie Pep ?
