Well he was champ for 11 years, he. He was about 35 or 36 when he vacated and moved up to SMW so he obviously wasn't 27-28. I think he's 40 now and he beat Eubank 1997 so he'd have been about 25.

Alot of people here did not know the division until recently so will not know who did what.

    Calzaghe here is 10-0
    Froch here is 6-2

Calzaghe has a win over Eubank a more accomplished SMW than anyone Froch has beaten. Also Reid and Woodhall have more accomplished SMW resumes than Bute, and Veit has a more accomplished SMW resume than most on Frochs list.
Froch has beaten 1 fighter in that list who has held a SMW title. Calzaghe has beaten 4
Sheika on Calzaghes list was coming off a win over prime G Johnson when Calzaghe beat him there.

Froch has had it tougher being on the road like he has been and not had the gimmes that Calzaghe has had.

I doubt many on here know that -
Sobot was a sub for undefeated Salmaci.
McIntyre was a sub for Echoles who pulled out late
Thornberry was supposed to be a gimme with comebacking S Collins supposed to be on the same card to match them next, only for Collins to stay retired

In answer to who had the better career, I would say Calzaghe at 10-0 with 4 fighters who have been SMW champs defeated rather than Froch at 6-2 with only 1 win over a fighter who was a SMW champ
Eubank is a more accomplished SMW than any on Frochs list and Reid and Woodhall more accomplished than Bute. Veit is of a similar level of quality of opponents to Bute. Sheika beat Johnson.

Thats a good point. I think Calzaghe was 25 before everyone jumps on you with corrections, but I know what you mean.

    Good point

I would add that Froch didnt even win a world title until Calzaghe had been 2 fights out of the SMW division at LHW and retired from boxing before Froch won a title

Well Froch was offered Calzaghe before Bika was. Look it up mate. They didn't want it at the time even though Froch had been begging for it, Calzaghe wanted a rematch clause but he was giving him a shot. By the time Froch was his mandatory there Calzaghe was already moving up.

Couldn't get anything from either link, except The Sun's homepage) for some reason.

I'm not saying Calzaghe should have given him a shot. I'm saying I don't know anything about it.

Can't read that link mate phones acting up. Anyway, bottom line is Froch was offered a fight and didn't want it. I'm not saying he ducked him because he wasn't ready at the time but Calzaghe defo didn't duck him. Taylor, Hopkins, Wright were all offered good money to fight Calzaghe in America and people like Popkins always give him **** coz they ducked it.

aye we all know what you'd say.

I'd agree with you to a point, you cannot cut and dissect careers, you should really look at the whole. Obviously Frochs not finished yet, so its too early to say.

And you probably have me down for a hater, but I am actually agreeing that Calzaghe has the more accomplishments at SMW so far, through his sheer willpower for sticking out all those years. So you might want to hold your breath on claiming people are haters when we are in reality admirers.
