What do you envisage would be the affect of Ali pounding on Jeffries face with tiny gloves round after round?
How many rounds do you think it would take before Jeffries was unable to even see Ali?
This is Frazier ,after 15rds against Ali with big gloves.

Being that Corbett landed on Big Jeff almost at will and really busted him up I'd expect the same and more from a prime Ali.

Ali TKO 11 - A brave Jeffries will not not be allowed to answer bell due to facial cuts. etc.

I think a ref would be more apt to let a fighter like Jeffries continue under those conditions. I truly think Ali eventually stops him; Fighting unable to see gets you stopped, chin irrelevant.

Thats it in a nutshell, you don't have to taste the canvas to get stopped.

Janitor would pick an ultra distance runner to beat Mike Tyson in a fight to the finish

You could find somebody who could outlast him under some sort of ruleset.

    Never doubt that.

Anyone here read Adam J. Pollack's book on Jeffries?

I heard good things about his books, he relies on primary sources in the immediate aftermath of fights which is much better than hearsay & myths published decades later.

I haven't read it but that is the book to go to if you want first hand reports of Jeffries as a fighter in each of his fights.

I suspect most people pick Ali because most of them never even heard of Jeffries lol. He has faded from the public memory, many people who do remember him do so as the racist that Jack Johsnon beat, a bit like how today most people only seem to remember Ken Buchanan as the guy whom Duran beat.

He was by all accounts a physical & athletic marvel for his times, that seems to be the consensus view from contemporary reports I have seen quoted.

I plan to read the book because my knowledge of that early era is lacking which I suspect is also true for most people on this forum.

    Sorry for going OT.
