This sport is dying

True fans will stick around. We were here before the UFC took the reigns, we will remain, because we are the true base. When Chael Sonnen loses and all the WWE kids gtfo, MMA will probably continue to decline. At one point the UFC was touting it's fighters as intelligent guys with a natural warrior or bad boy tendency. Especially when Rich Franklin was surging.

Then, they started garnering the WWE aspect and the ranks really swelled. Well, those fans are fickle and never really appreciated the sport in it's entirety. I was a fan of Affliction as an idea of an organization, their clothing was what the WWE sort fan was enamored in, and are concerned about at the moment.

 

Jesus you are the worst stealth racist on the forum. Why don't you drop the act? You don't like white people - fine. Just say it. You are free to be prejudiced against whites. But at least be honest about it, instead of hiding behind your coded language and bull**** poor-me whining. :-(

Koa has a stick up his ass about white casual MMA fans. He continually generalizes them as racist thugs. He uses coded language a lot in his posts, and is quick to scream racism. The "WWE" references are an example of this coded language. That's shorthand for "dumb aggressive racist white guys" :good

Can't use the search function at the moment, but he's big on anti-white generalizations. For instance, he'll suddenly complain that his white neighbours don't want him to live in his house because his brown skin will affect their house prices. Yet he doesn't have a relationship with these people, he just assumes that they'd rather he not be there. Because, you know, they are white and he is brown, therefore they are against him. He admits that he'll be much more standoffish to a white neighbour right from the start, yet he doesn't acknowledge that his prejudging of that man based on skin colour makes HIM the racist.

Basically he's totally inflexible and refuses to admit that he is biased.

Another example involves Cain's massive, Gothic-lettered "Brown Pride" tattoo. Koa absolutely refuses to even consider that Cain's huge, prominent, race-based tattoo could possibly be viewed as anything other than a positive message. As far as Koa is concerned, if you'd rather Cain didn't have that massive, aggressive tattoo simply because you find it quite confrontational and alienating and you don't think it's a good look for a hard-working, law-abiding guy, the real reason is because you're racist against brown people because you don't understand how evil and oppressive white people have always been. :-(

I actually like Koa. I don't care that he's a racist. I just wish that he would acknowledge it. :conf

Its not dying. But its certainly reached and surpassed critical mass thanks to over saturation by the UFC and the monopolization of the sport which greatly hampers productivity and competitiveness. Hopefully we won't hear Goldberg talking about it's 'Meteoric rise' any more.

 

I think the trouble started when the UFC went around buying up all the other org's. Before, the talent was spread throughout various organisations and the casual fan didn't make the effort to follow some of the alternative shows. Now the UFC has nearly every half decent fighter on the planet and has to put on show after show in order to keep them active. The UFC does reality shows, pay per views, free fights on line, on Fox, on Fuel. The UFC needs to realise that 'casual' fans want to see big, top level fights with a lot on the line and their hunger for these types of events is being diluted by over exposure.
Keep the numbered UFC's on PPV put the super fight main event cards with a poor under cards on Fox and stick everything else on line. That way the casual fan doesn't get confused and hardcore MMA fans can find all the fights.

 

So if MMA is dying, and Boxing is dying- what are all the fans watching? Or are they dying as well? You need to read the secret or something mate before you start self harming.

Nothing is dying, numbers fall a bit and jackasses like this say "the sport is dying". The sport is not dying, i think interest in the sport is less than usual because GSP and Anderson Silva havent fought in a while, plus the HW division is weak as ****, Fedor has fallen from unbeatable status. MMA/UFC just needs a new superstar and blood will start pumping through the sports veins again. AND AFFLICTION SHIRTS, yes those were a gay fad, and the newbie fans wearing that **** are not the kind of fans the sport needs anyway. The real fans will always watch the sport. The new fans who only gained interest because the sport was becoming more popular and gettin ESPN coverage can gladly **** off if they are bored with it now



Or maybe no one gives a **** about MMA anymore because Nick Diaz retired. LOLLLL
