I think this is true. He way over does the weights. He does not seem to be able to accelerate through his punches.
bradley's power is not bad as people say. he might not ko you but he can hurt most opponents. he just doesn't have the concussive ko type power. but if he punches you , you still get hurt. at least enough to affect you. ask peterson , alexander , etc. it's just pac has a good chin that's why it looked like it had no effect. remember pac took cotto , marg , mosley , clottey , etc. punches like nothing. even when they bruised pac's face up , during the fight pac was hardly hurt to the chin.
People who make so much out of punching power have no concept of this sport. None. Not historically or currently. No grasp.
Power matters. It especially matters if you don't have an amazing skillset to offset a huge disparity in power at the higher weights. At 140 he can outhustle guys, rough them up, and grind out a decision. At 147 a significant step up his capacity to both take a punch in his respective weight class and dish one out is reduced. His ability to maul in the pocket is reduced too given the strength and natural size advantages other 147 pounders have. His great equalizer is his tenacity, workrate, awkward and relatively crude yet effective style. That style is just much harder to impose against bigger men at welterweight.
I think Bradley actually beats most top ten welterweights right now. Punching power wasn't his bread and butter at 140, it doesn't need to be at 147, and his skillset is getting underrated, imo. One of the major 147 titlists is Paulie Malignaggi. Think about that. Who is likely to fight him for it? Alexander, who Bradley already clearly outclassed. What kind of power did Luis Collazo need for the likes of Berto or Hatton? He was a good fighter, but we're not talking about Pernell skills he needed to arguably win both those fights with not much power at all. He's good at 147 if he wants to stay.
