When did Tommy Hearns ever struggle with counter punchers who fought on the backfoot? Hearns by KO. Jones' style is made for Tommy to use that jab, reach and right hand. Jones' disgraceful chin and fear of engaging against elite opposition (like against Hopkins and Toney) is why Tommy will blast him out.
I see Hearns in this one. Jones was made for Hearns. Tommy knocks him out in 5!! Jones vs. a guy like Duran then Jones wins easily. But not against Hearns who outboxed boxers!!!
like leonard? at 160 hearns has a better shot but i see jones winning a dec. at 168, jones was unreal. i think he stops hearns in the mid to late rounds. jones was the bigger, better fighter.
Leonard was a warrior at heart and Jones was not. To beat Hearns you had to have a little warrior in you to take chances. Jones didn't take chances, and I do not see him beating Hearns. Hearns would win a decision over Jones.
Both middleweight and super middleweight i would pick Roy Jones. After studying Roy these past few weeks Roy Jones when he was a Light Heavyweight was nothing and i mean nothing to what he was as Middleweight and Super Middleweight. ROY JONES was a ****in beast at those weights just ****in amazing. Honestly i don't see anybody beating him, he was just too good at those weights. But I'm not ruling out Hearns winning, i mean Hearns definitely has the power to hurt and knock Jones out. Although Jones has great power himself and just as easily could knock Hearns out. This fight ends in a knockout no doubt. Jones 70/30 chance. I ****in love Tommy but i don't think he beats Jones at all. Nobody beats Tommy at Welterweight. (Even though Leonard beat him, if the fight happened again at that weight it's still a 50/50 fight) Nobody beats Jones at Middle or Super. Jones at Light Heavyweight is still great H2H but i think he gets beat by the top echelon of fighters in that division. Might seem like i'm dickriding Jones hard, but i'm ****in serious Jones at Middle and Super was just ****in masterful.
at 168 i don't see any fighter, ever, in the history of the division beating him. hearns was a very good super middle, jones the best
how many times did jones get ko'ed at 160 and 168? jones, like ezzard charles, has suffered some bad knockout losses later in his career but that's not his prime. age and coming back down from heavy ruined jones. hearns was stopped three times at middleweight or lower: leonard, hagler and barkley. jones is a bigger fighter and a bigger puncher than all those guys.
nobody is unbeatable but i think at this weight, jones could find a way to defeat anyone that fought at or around this weight. he was absolutely amazing at 168.
Jones. Hearns is in with a guy who is faster, more powerful, and more durable at these weights. Jones can take the jab away, and once that's gone, it's a potshotting competition with the fastest hands that weight has ever seen.
I look for reasons to pick against RJJ and feel comfortable doing it whenever I can....This is not one of those times. I love Hearn's and feel his best shot would be at 160 (unless I can get an amatur version at 148/154), and that his chances decrease as they move up. I would cheer for hearn's and quite possibly come onto ESB classic a few years after the fight and remind everyone that Hearn's was robbed so badly in this fight that I am still outraged....But in reality (strange for a fantasy hypothetical) RJJ takes a wide decision.
