Yeah Mayweather (and Ellerbe as well i think) gave an interview about that and said that Shane and his Father wanted $10 Million to fight Mayweather, which was going to be damn near impossible to get anything close to that because at the time Mayweather was an HBO BAD to WCB fighter.

Cotto and Margarito were gonna be people to mess with at that time...Williams perhaps? Ask Floyd.

I can't even bother anymore with people who always seem to say b.s. about mayweather but when asked to back up their statements, they can't.

Anyone claiming Mayweather ducked Cotto is ****ing ignorant as hell, at 140 Arum and Cotto's people turned down the fight and said Cotto wasn't ready.

If you're objective you know that Cotto was kept away from Floyd. Margarito was a nobody. Is a nobody and will always be a nobody. He had problems with Daniel Santos because he proved that if you actually fight Margarito and don't run away, he falls apart. Cottos biggest win at one point was Zab Judah.....who Floyd already beaten. If i had to say one person, it would be Paul Williams. But who didn't avoid him?

Well you seemed so certain I was asking you. And it looks like the other posters have torn up the Cotto argument and we clarified Margo.

Williams, maybe you could say but who did he beat at WW. Margo, and went 1-1 with Quintana, thats it. Hardly these massive fighter that Mayweather would be ducking dont you think?

why are people saying that FLoyd offered Cotto a fight?? That NEVER happened. I cant remember which fight it was, but Merchant asked Floyd was he interested in Cotto, and FLoyd said that Cotto was too green at the time (which was true). Floyd NEVER once called out Cotto b/c once Cotto went to 147, Floyd was already in the mindset of never fighting TR fighters.

I still to this day don't understand the ducking claims...a lie started by Bob Arum; and spread with hate by the people who don't like Floyd. It's comical that everytime you have a debate with somebody about Floyd; they throw out those two names...even when Cotto has said he wasn't interested back then; as well as Bob Arum saying Floyd wanted to fight Margs and Cotto; but Arum didn't want to pay him what Floyd felt he deserved...

This is what I was thinking in making the thread. The ducking claims are quite hollow when you look at it.

As I said in another post, Williams maybe, but Williams WW championship level record consists of aforementioned and discredited Margo and 1-1 with Quintana, he was hardly setting the world on fire as I remember as well.

Sidenote - Is that your girl in your avi, she fine as ****! :nut

Other posters? The same idiots that had Bradley winning against PAC? Those dipshits?

Let's put it this way...Floyd was at WW and never fought the top WW's. You can keep on his nuts and blame everybody or be objective and face the truth.

Think to yourself about how Arum operates. Mayweather would have only gotten fights with Cotto or Margarito if he resigned with Arum in order to get those fights. What would Arum gain by allowing Mayweather to fight and probably beat both those guys while he is fighting under GBP.

There is a reason why Cotto was never offered to Mayweather after he came out of retirement.
