Has Arum fooked up Donaire's career?

Donaire was in the same predicament when he was with Shaw. Remember how long we waited for the Vic rematch which never materialised, or any other fight against a top fighter? When there is a pattern with a fighter, you can't ignore it. Donaire has to take some responsibility, he stuffed the momentum he had after the Montiel fight by breaking his contract, as well as a fight with Moreno, now he's fighting some unknown African. All the while doing his best to play down a Rigondeaux fight. If he wanted to he could pressure Top Rank to make that fight we all want to see.

 

In fairness I don't think anyone can make Arum make any match he doesn't wanna make. The juanma/gamboa fight proved that. They both wanted it but bob wanted to milk the rican fans whilst dangling that fight to keep people interested and then it backfired when salido got involved. I'm still a bit bitter about that fight not happening as I would have picked gamboa to destroy him and profited out of a large bet.

From what I remember the Moreno fight was pretty much set, and scrapped because Donaire wasn't happy that Top Rank met the $500,000 requested by Moreno to make the fight, after Moreno initially rejected their offer of $350,000. Donaire felt Moreno didn't deserve to be making that much when his purse in the Montiel fight, and Montiel's purse, was less than that. That's what led him to leave for Golden Boy, who also signed Moreno.

Maybe the instance you're thinking about happened when Golden Boy tried to make Donaire-Moreno, which also broke down.

Arum pretending that Mares doesn't exist is infuriating. Above all, that's who I'd like to see Donaire face considering that they were the 2 best BW's that are now fighting at 122.

Yeah, but the majority of fans get their knowledge from the Lampleys, Bunces, Atlases, Colonels and Baylesses of the world. Let's not go there. We're in hardcoreland, on ESB, here. This guy's a champion, dig it.

That's it. That's the only one I knew about. That's a lot of money for a bantamweight (I think that was before Donaire moved up when I'd seen that offer). That's a shame they couldn't come to terms. It'd be a very interesting fight. :conf

 

Donaire is lucky the Moreno fight didn't happen, I think Moreno would've decisioned him. Arum needs to start investing more into Rigo so that it'll be a super fight when he fights Donaire.

 

yeah Arum ruined his career, ruined everyones career, but still gets new guys signing up all the time in hopes theirs will be trashed too... i wonder how doing such bad business makes you so rich and keeps you in business all these years?

 

Rigondeux is just as unknown as the African but tougher. He's better off fighting the African and it's not a guarantee he will beat the African. What if the African beats him?

If he beats the African then he should fight Rigondeux if Rigondeux unifies the titles in the meantime.

 

I think talent wise he's as talented as Pacquiao, but I don't think we know if he can carry his power up like Pacquiao did. If carries up his power he very well could be ATG like Pacquiao but if he starts looking less and less powerful at high weights then he eventually is going to have to settle at these lower weights, similar to what Marquez had to do.

 

4 people should be fighting each other at 122....Rigo,Donaire,Mares and Nishioka.
Moreno is welcome to join.
