i seen this a while back. look up the movie only in America hbo. the move is just like this doc. don king was goon and he ran numbers (bootleg lotto) and payed the mafia for protection. he payed alot of people to do some **** up ****, he killed a man that tried to rob him in house.got off with justifiable homicide in defense of self. then he owed the mob some money and had to pay on day he decided to see about a many that owed him like 300 bucks. don king beat the man up and kicked him over and over in the head and when the police came he they told him to drop it because he had a gun in his hand.he kick the guy again and the police arrested don and the man died from his injuries by king.don king is 6'2 250 back then and the guy only weight 135.i know his who story.
Great movie. Don King was a scumbag, you only have to look at the number of fighters that have been involved in court cases against him. Still he put on many great fights and helped keep interest in the sport. He was good for boxing, bad for boxers. I always liked the guy though, always intrigued to watch him speak with his unique, self-taught vocabulary. He will go down in the top 5 most charismatic figures in boxing, maybe even the most charismatic after ALi.
I agree, and in the case of Tyson, people like Teddy Atlas, Robin Givens, and Barbara Walters deserve some of the blame. They set Tyson up by humiliating him on national television.
Din King has a massive reputation for screwing his fighters out of money, which is why he's no longer a big time promoter.
