Bernard Hopkins and Julio Cesar Chavez are two of the greatest fighters of the past 30 years. Which one do you rate better?

Chavez Sr. and it's not even close. The man fought 115 fights, won 107 times and KO'ed his opponents in 86 of them.

I have to see more of Chavez's career (beyond just the 5-10 name fights), but I'm leaning towards Hopkins.

Whitaker, Taylor, Rosario, Haugen, De La Hoya 1 & 2, Camacho, Mayweather 1 & 2, Aguilar, Martinez, Perez, Limon.

I'll eventually get around to Buchanan, Lockridge, La Porte, Randall next.

Good stuff. Chavez was one of the few guys whose entire filmed career I actually bothered to check out. With most fighters before my time I tend to just get to the big fights and leave it at that. Really enjoyed watching Chavez though, and seeing him progress & improve through the years. Same goes for Hopkins, of course, and maybe even to a greater extent. Love these two.

Definitely man :good those are two fighters with styles and resumes that invite you to sit there all day and watch them progress and rack up a long, quality list of conquered rivals.

I was very impressed when I saw Chavez the first time against Rosario, but to be honest I never took to him the way I usually do with the elite Mexican boxers.
They're not far apart, but Hopkins nicks this by a round or two for me.
