Lee is far from being the best Chavez Jr has faced, at 147 he lost to Molina twice, at 160 he lost to Rubio(yes it was close).


Molina and Rubio both better fighters :deal

But Jr is good, should give Martinez good fight.

the big deal is that he is not a prospect he is a belt holder that was gifted to him and still he refuses to fight top fighters.. once you have a belt in your possession fans expect more from you and hold you to a higher standard is time for him to fight top five guys and earn the belt he has

he has slightly stepped up the competition in the last few fights but still not enough due to the fact that fans are mad at the way they stole the belt from martinez so until he fights martinez fans including me wont be happy

he needs to earn all the hype and praises he gets and he hasnt

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has announced that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-0, 32KOs) will indeed defend his WBC middleweight title against mandatory challenger Sergio Martinez (49-2, 28KOs) on September 15th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. HBO pay-per-view will carry the event.

Martinez's longtime adviser, Sampson Lewkowicz, was delighted with the news. Martinez has been chasing Chavez since late 2010. Since that time, Chavez has improved in the ring and his recent victory even impressed Lewkowicz, who initially believed that Martinez would blow the young Mexican out.

Chavez fought on Saturday night in El Paso and stopped Martinez's stablemate, Andy Lee, in seven rounds.";I received two phone calls from [Martinez's promoter] Lou DiBella and we have a done deal for September 15th at the Thomas & Mack. Before his last two fights, I wasn't a believer. After what I saw tonight, I became a believer. Based on what happened tonight - I don't believe Chavez will be that big of an underdog. The event takes place at the MGM Grand and Showtime pay-per-view will broadcast the card.</p><p>Personally speaking, I can't remember a single moment in time where a major HBO pay-per-view went head to head with a major Showtime pay-per-view - and the same city was hosting both events.

Lewkowicz doesn't believe the two events will go head to head. In his opinion, he believes Canelo-Ortiz will possibly move to a different date.";I just can't see it happening. I don't see two events going head to head in Las Vegas and on pay-per-view,"; Lewkowicz said.

Andy Lee threw away Steward's gameplan and fought toe to toe like a warrior. Just like Ray Leonard fought toe to toe with Duran in Montreal.

Andy Lee is a warrior and deserves our respect for making this a great fight.

 

He's improving....Has the pedigree and seems to be taking his profession seriously with regards to how he approaches each fight. He looked ripped for this fight with Lee....and the fact that he has the mentality of a fighter, young and already a seasoned pro, I'm guessing we'll be seeing another Chavez etching out a place in boxing history.... Of course he'll never hold a torch to his legendary father....but not many can. I've always been impressed with Chavez Jr...even when he was a side show. I could always see that he had fire inside him in all of his fights.

 

it wasn't a matter of lee throwing away the gameplan, lee just couldn't hold off chavez...to big, too strong.
