Stevan Struve vs. Stipe Miocic Agreed as Main Event for UFC Return to England

It's a very good fight. Strive has good standup, albeit with a very questionable chin, and a guard game that surpasses the majority of heavyweights he is likely to face, outside of the Brazilians. That isn't to say that he is hopeless when the fight in on the feet, as he is offensively very sounds, and very able to knock out his opponent at any time. The only remaining question is his chin.

Stipe has very porous defence on the feet, but he appears to have a pretty solid chin. Therefore, he is able to take more risks on the feet. I would give Stipe the advantage on the feet, but not really by that much. Struve is pretty sound offensively when in comes to striking, but he has always shown a willingness to take unnecessary punishment, and he really doesn't have the chin to take such risks.

It's a toss up, in my eyes. I give Stipe the advantage on the feet, though by not a huge margin, and Struve the advantage on the ground.

 

I don't think Stipe has all that great of a chin from what I saw in the Del Rosario fight. Stipe was clearly rocked at times and looked like he would've been dropped had a couple more punches landed in those exchanges. He didn't go down though, so credit to him for that. When he gets dropped or KO'd, don't be shocked. Don't know if Struve is the guy to do it though. I'm going to do a little research on some Struve fights before I make a decision on who I pick to win.

 

Good fight to 2 guys on good winning streaks. I still think Struve has a lot of potential given a good coach who can help him fight like a guy who is 7 feet tall and 5 feet tall. With his ground game and size he can be a prob for anybody.

 

It's actually a good fight but neither one of these guys are main event fighters. Even the winner of this is still at least 2 fights away from a title shot. The UFC just take the British fans for granted these days.

And this is the main reason why I said that in the UFC HW division ranking a irrelevant... !

I'm pretty sure from the POV of anybody here Nelson is getting a title before Struve...

 

I wouldn't mind seeing Nelson vs Hunt for that matter.

I know Struve doesn't have the best chin, but he has been in the UFC forever and right now there is nobody that deserve more a title shot then him (and Hunt...)

Struve has more fight in the UFC then Cain has of MMA fight, the only difference being is that Struve isn't being pushed for a title shot !!

 

I didn't think Struves chin is that bad considering he's taking alot of shots in some of his fights. Anyway Struve prob doesn't want a title fight right away anyhow, he's only a few fights removed from being ko'd by nelson and of course dos already ko'd him as well and he also has a loss to McCorkle. He's still only 24 and has stated he's not asking for a title shot quite yet.

Cain looked dominate in most of his fights and was clearly at titleshot level.

 

Saw it but I felt like its another non significant fight card in the UK. Makes sense for them, cheap employees on the show rather than PPV fighters who command big money.

At least give us Bisping

 

Another difference that you know damned well but fail to mention is that Struve has first-round KO losses to Roy Nelson and Travis Browne, as well as to Cigano. :-(

And he has never looked as dominant as Cain has. Most of his fights tend to be blood and guts wars, as opposed to Cain's usually one-sided affairs. :nono
