Definitely Ray Leonard or Roy Jones Junior. Pernell Whitaker deserves a mention. If he had beaten Trinidad and then Delahoya he could have definitely been a few spots higher, maybe even top 10 ATG

Hard to say as its all speculation. As is calling one an "ATG". Don't believe in that term but to each their own.

  3. the "lights?" really? it's "likes," friend. i think if tyson hadnt gone to jail he would have beaten both of them easily. holyfield would have been tougher as his chin was pretty solid back in the day. tyson was very technical. he could have been an atg, at least in the heavyweight division.

Langford & Greb definitely have more impressive resumes. Stupid impressive stuff those two. The resumes of Ezzard Charles & Henry Armstrong could be argued above Ray's as well. I still have Robinson as the GOAT, all things considered, but I think the top 3 are interchangeable for the most part.

I hold Burley as his most interesting challenge among all the Welterweights, no question in my mind. Burley looks absolutely brilliant on the bit of film we have, and he seems to be the absolute right man to give Ray hell, but he doesn't look Robinson good. No one looks Robinson good, is all I'm saying. That and his record indicate him as being the closest to unbeatable we've ever known. 2 losses over the first 12 years, both when he's disadvantaged (be it by 17lbs of weight or it being his 5th fight in just 4 weeks), both avenged decisively. Robinson was never once bested by a man his own size while in his prime, despite the hundreds of fights, dozens of which were against elite opposition. Who beat the very best opponents is one thing, but throwing dominance/consistency/longevity into the mix, I feel Robinson's record indicates him as likely having been the BEST ever, and the footage more than backs that up.

Burley is one of the better answers for the thread though. Maybe we'd be decieived a bit (maybe), but imagine if their fortunes had been switched. :think

Got to agree, if tyson hadnt gone off the rails and beaten douglas, he would have come across holy when holy loved to brawl, would have been an awesome fight but tyson would come out on top, then by 92-93 he would have no one else to fight but lewis, and theres no way that lewis could beat a tyson in good shape with good mindset. Specially at that time. Retiered by 94 with nothing left to prove, anytime after that even with cus he would go down hill due to his style of fighting and size.

If Edison Miranda was around back in the days of Robinson or Langford he'd be a top 5 ATG lock but these interweb hypocrites don't want to give Pantera any credit :bart

RJJ with a chin and focus, Floyd with power if he didn't retire, and last but not least,if Whitaker took steroids instead of cocaine
