What could Haye have done different to beat Wlad?

Tactics wise? His choosen gameplan was stay on the outside and explode with bombs. All while avoiding the jab and big right. Fighting that way against Wlad makes it very hard to get the win. His punches were so telegraphed Wlad avoided most of them easy. Without a very good chin and agressive pressure style its very hard to get to Wlad. With Hayes skillset and ability what do you think he could of done different?

Should have been inside pressure throughout. Even with his octopussy clinching every 5 seconds, Wlad would break mentally. Unfortunately, Haye has never really fought that kind of fight, and his in-and-out was not going to work as Wlad has great reflexes and there was no magic one-punch that was going to make Wlad see stars.

Also not complaining about his sore toe afterward might have helped.

he could've actually looked to hurt wlad consistently, that would have given him a better chance. people slight haye, and rightfully so, but he has the best chance of anyone in the heavyweight division, to beat wlad other than vitali. david price comes in at number two in terms of tools to beat wlad in my opinion, but he's just not ready for that level yet.

Well, he could have hired a new trainer, and spent a few years actually learning how to box.

He just needed to be more active. Haye was able to catch Wlad clean and hurt him, which is something Wlad couldn't do to Haye, but it just wasn't enough. He needed to be a lot busier, throw more feints and make Wlad scared of throwing himself.

Haye's inactivity made it far too easy for him to be outboxed. If he got a rematch, Haye would need to be far busier.

A referee who punishes clinching would be needed too.

Thrown about 100 more punches and grew some balls. Took no chances .

I think he needs to get lower and bob and weave and use his speed to get on the inside. But chose to box on the outside

Two outside fighters fighting Is what we got.

And if his toe was good

You often have to risk an ass-whooping to give one. Haye took no risks.

I only saw the fight live, didnt Haye hurt Wlad in the 12th round?
He needed to take more risks. The toe thing was such a copout
but perhaps it did make a difference. I thought he would
Use more head movement and uppercuts. Haye flailing about
Was damn near disgraceful he even got a point taken. Away.
More head movement, more uppercuts, develop a left hook,
    grow a set of balls.

Had a ref that didn't allow Wlad to constantly put his weight on smaller guys' backs?

Exactly what I was going to say but also point out that is impossible at this stage in his career. It would be 'magic'.

Haye was cautious for a reason. If Haye opened up he would have been ktfo.
