no no no. martinez might be smaller than chavez, but he is so athletic and moves well that he has no problems with taller bigger guys like pw or kelly. dimitry or golovkin might be tough fight for martinez, because one has chin, is big and punches very hard (harder than chavez) and the other punches even harder than dimitry and is very skilled & athletic on top of that. chavez is to offensive vs his own good, you cant be offensive against martinez, because dude hits so precise, so damn hard. chavez would get KO'd within 7, no tough fight, but fan friendly to watch.
not only is he the hardest puncher in the world at middleweight, but his timing and accuracy of punches is world class too.
I really enjoyed his fight with Andy Lee. His body punches as said earlier were brutal and they had taken their toll on Lee and in the end Lee was thier for the taking in the seventh. Props to Lee though for bringing it to Chavez.
I don't know what part of Mexico you've been to (or if you're being a typical ignorant ass), but Mexico city, Cancun and Monterrey (this last place is surprisingly white) are ****ing awesome. Anyway, Chavez Jr stops him in the 10th. I honestly think deep down Sergio is worried. A young, 180lb beast with a chin coming forward with power aimed at your lower section who is terminator like for 12rounds, yea I wouldn't want any of that either.
I think Sergio was like most of us, he initially thought Jr was easy work, a daddies boy, who was slow and flabby like. That's why he kept demanding the fight. Then to his horror, Jr interviews several times before camp saying he's 100% focused and in love with boxing now no more dui bs, comes out and demolishes lee like nothing. Have fun keeping a 180lb Jr off of you for 12 rounds sergio lol.
Sergio's biggest victories were against past it or just not that great of fighters. Pavlik (way more overrated then the guy he beat to become the man, Taylor). Paul Williams II was a great win, but one xan make an argument that Jr's last 3 wins are more quality than Martinez's last 3. Jr is on the rise, Martinez is falling. The guard will change, just as Sergio changed it by beating Pavlik.
Willing to bet this kid has never left the confines of his cum-stained "computer room". Back on topic, Jr did not impress me but has somehow surpassed my expectations since I never expected much from him. Has definitely improved. The fact that he will now be facing Martinez and is expected by some to win says a lot.
Martinez Vs. Chavez will be a replay of Chavez Vs. Camacho. Sergio's punches wil not effect Jr. & Julio will pound Martinez against the ropes. Then the "Small" middleweight excuse talk will be the rage.
That was a classic. Chavez vs Camacho was a higher level of skill. But yeah, style wise it will be similar but I don't know if the outcome will be similar. Martinez can crack, has good timing, and way more speed than Jr. Sergio has to hurt Chavez early in the fight or at least get him to respect his power otherwise Martinez could get grinded down like Cotto against Margo the first time. I still think Martinez can get the win. I can see him cutting up Jr.s face up (similar to Pavlik) and forcing a stoppage. Man, I really hope this fight happens!
homeboy did look really strong in there... vicious body punching i saw.... man i can't wait till he fights martinez!!!!
Think he's primed to beat Martinez at this stage. Martinez is only getting older and Chavez better. The only issues is his stamina due to weight draining. If he can fight for the entire duration of the round he can be very dangerous.
he did both for me, impress me and surpass my expectations. but he realy looks different from a few years ago when he looked physicly weak and now, totaly new story. roid or not, I dont give a ****, even roided martinez would beat him. one question I got. why is everybody saying dude is weighing 180. if he weighs in at middleweight, than he has to cut more than 20 pounds and than he regains all of it by eating the whole day or what??:huh also martinez is very big when come fight time, wheres the problem?
