even if there isnt a star as big as floyd around, there are still many attractions. and then we have the ethnic groups who will root for fighters from their motherland. we might lose some "fans" like the guy at work who seriously asked me "has pacquiao fought at heavyweight yet?" but aside from that, boxings gonna be fine.

Have you seen the ratings for the last UFC on Fox?

It was a ratings disaster, one of the lowest ratings ever on network TV. Lower than even XFL ever did at their lowest point.

Did you know that UFC PPV buys are down by almost a third since the peak in 2010 with Brock Lesnar?

You make some good points but I think your a little over dramatic. They are not just "excuses", it is the truth as to why there are no great American HW anymore. Most of the athletes have gone into basketballa nd football for the most part. I dont' think that we will never see another great HW though, I think it will just come far and few between.

Boxing though has it's peaks and valleys, always has. There are times when it's been down and times when it's been up and that depends on the superstar that carries the sport. DLH was more than just a pretty face, he was one of the best boxers of his generation and carried the sport the way Ali did in the 70's, Tyson did in the 80's and the way Pacquaio elevated it in the 2000's.

I will agree though, the UFC has done so many things right as far as promotion and regulations. People hate on Dana White but he's single handedly turned that franchise around and given the MMA fans the best fights. That also has everything to do with the fact it's not run by promoters the way boxing is.

As long as there are Mexican Americans, Cuban Americans and Puerto Ricans in this country, boxing isn't going anywhere.

 

And two rising HW prospects from America turned to boxing after failed attempts at other sports (injuries). Jennings and Mitchell.
