I've been boxing for around a year and whenever i know im going to spar it feels like some big event for me lol...I see some of you guys posting about sparring 8+ rounds and im wondering if you guys still feel like its a big event, or if its nothing to you?
Not sure what you mean by "feels like some big event". That can be interpreted a number of ways. 1. Really excited before 2. Feel nervous, anxious before 3. Feel drained/worn out after I've been boxing roughly as long as you have, and I can't say i feel over the top about any of those things. Maybe satisfaction at the end, or drained/worn out after a particularly large number of practice rounds. But generally, I look forward to getting in some rounds, and it's no big deal either way.
Never once felt nervous sparring, oddly. Even the first time I sparred I was relaxed and felt fine. I do love sparring, although I don't get all pumped up for it. Unless I haven't been able to spar for a while, then I get quite excited.
I don't feel nervous at all before sparring except sometimes when I am going against a clearly better opponent. I do pump myself up a little for a few minutes before the bell rings for the first time though. It's almost like im "activating a different mind set". If im unable to do that, I perform much worse.
I see what you mean. It only feels like an event if I get to spar with a pro or a very skilled opponent!
I feel like I'm being judged and have to perform for myself and my coach, so I do feel a bit anxious beforehand.
well i used to get nervous as **** before sparring but now i never get nervous and **** anymore just nervous as ****
My first reaction when I read your earlier post was "I see what you did there", but you can never be sure
you'll get over it with experience. I'm a nervous/jumpy person in general so I'm always a little amped up while I wait my turn, but once you're up you just have to flip that switch. I'm always reminding myself it's 'just putting in work, this is what I do.'
