Believe me jaja I would have gotten up I could, but damn that was a a nice body shot he got me with, I don't think I could actually breath right all night after that fight
how about don't take them? keep them elbows in!!! u gotta guy swinging for the rib cage....pull them guards in and instead of pulling back into big looping shots....step in and throw shorter ones.
I once took a vicious kick to the stomach. My wind was knocked out of me so hard my mouthpiece flew out along with some spit. It was a perfect shot, and I went down. The only thing I could have done was not step on the mat that guy.
Improve defense, breath out and tense when it lands, condition the **** out your abs. Get used to taking body shots in sparring. Most of all, have the desire to keep going.
Not true with a liver shot. (See my last post.) There are various methods for increasing recovery time. They basically involve purposely taking mild body shots to such areas, over & over. AFAIK, only a kidney shot is immune from this, due to the specific nature of that pain. Not sure about the solar plexus, you may be right with that one. You can probably find this info online somewhere. You can definitely find it at any good university library. FWIW, I have an MS in exercise physiology from U-Mass. ------------ One can also build up a tolerance to pain, at least a little. And, of course, strong abdominal & intercostal muscles will help prevent pain in the first place. ------------ There are probably also modern PEDS & such that can help with the pain, increase enzyme production, etc, though I have no knowledge of such things since I graduated in 1982.
