Tyson knows more about the heavyweight history than 99% of people on this forum.

Might be 100%. People that talked to Tyson over the years, "Historians" and people in the know, have all stated Tyson basically has FBI portfolio type knowledge on fighters.
Tyson talked bout this a little: He knows how they grew up, nicknames, what kind of clothes they liked to wear, who they dated, personal information, obscure boxers and club fighters, all the stories D'Amato told him, etc.

Like, Tyson is the true definition of a boxing nerd (and I mean that in a good way).

That one documentary where Tyson, the other guys in the house, and D'Amato sitting around the table talking about fighters...and Cus is bringing up matches and Tyson remembers the names Cus doesn't and Cus was like...This kid remembers everything.. And although those names may have been common even though they were old school fighters, it reminded me of the sit-down interview he had on one of the boxing websites where he was talking to reporters and a reporter mentioned some name I never heard of and Tyson knew who he was and everything he did. May have even been some obscure Cuban fighter (but not positive).
I was like damn...I thought he would have smoked away that knowledge by now.

You gotta respect Tyson's knowledge of boxing history. It's unreal...

Im happy the man is busy especially with the spike lee Broadway production, only lasts for a two weeks or so.

But that is a good look. I just hope Mike gives it his best shot and boxing fans support it more than the average heads.

Cus must have thought he was blessed to have had Tyson. Arreola's trainer can't even control what he eats, but Tyson lived his life under the direction of Cus. When Tyson says that boxers need discipline, it means something very different than I imagine most other fighters imagine when they hear that word.

This might be the best Tyson interview I've read. Great stuff.

Has this been posted in the Classic forum? I think they'd appreciate it, particularly due to the way Tyson discusses so many old, respected fighters.
