both being shot doesn't make the fight more meaningful.

True. I like Monte he is a good gatekeeper and he's sort of my favorite c level fighter but he beat old fat Tua. Barrett was beaten by Haye and Wlad already If I recall.

Wlad beat him almost a decade before the Tua fight, but there were a lot of others, like Solis, Ustinov, Haye and other people I've forgotten who also beat the shot Barrett who fought Tua. When I found out Tua had not only failed to KO Barrett but he'd actually drawn with him in a draw he didn't even deserve I knew Tua was completely finished.

Credit to Barrett. He should have retired long before he fought Tua, but he managed to pull off a couple of career defining performances against a guy many (many idiots ) still considered a threat to the Klitschkos

no one considers tua a threat to the klitschkos. no one.

most people considered tua done in 2003 after the rahman rematch when he went on a 2 year layoff.

then again during his other 2 year layoff before the shane cameron fight.

    just pasting from

    Scoop 2003

Former champ and noted boxing historian Mike Tyson witnessed Klitschko vs. McCline from ringside. “I’m even more impressed than I was before the fight,” said Tyson.”I would like to fight against him very soon if he feels he's ready, but they have not shown any interest at all. In any case, I’m convinced Wladimir is a future champion.”
Max Schmeling watched the fight on television back in Germany and wrote his kindred friend a congratulatory note, saying, “You defended your title with a high amount of aesthetic. It was a convincing and impressive performance. You paved your way to America.”
George Foreman: “What we saw tonight was scary. What we saw tonight is scary. It’s scary. It’s scary for other opponents to fight Wladimir Klitschko.”
Larry Merchant: “He is for real. When top American trainers like Tommy Brooks, Emanuel Steward and Ronnie Shields all agree that he is the future of the heavyweight division, attention must be paid. Not all the questions have been answered…can he take a punch? Can he deal with serious adversity? But sometimes a phenomenon is so good, that no one can ask those questions inside the ring.”

Barrett is fighting Shane Cameron soon and I pick him to win. He's still half good at C level. He could have been really popular because he really is very funny and interesting. He called David Tua "a fat slob and the Burger Queen of New Zeland." Monte also said that if gets another Klitschko shot that he would "**** on them" as well as saying he would "sweep up his New York streets with Tyson Fury's body."

Interesting. I don't know why they didn't fight but it seems Wlad fought McCline instead. Wlad-McCline was Dec 02 and Tua-Moorer was Aug 02 so if Wlad-Tua were to be next it would have been around that Dec time frame.

Tua would have been a handful for that version of Wlad. At that time Wlad wasn't as cautious as he is now and Tua had the tools to do what Brewster did.

At that time Tua was actually coming on strong with his right hand. He knocked moorer out with an overhand right, in the fight with Oquendo it was a right hand that started the knockout. And in the rematch with Rahman, the only time he hurt Rahman was with an overhand right in the 7 th..So he wasnt overrelying on his powerfull left.
And he would have smacked the overrated ukrainian big time...

Tua had a great right hand too it seems. He had some gifts but somewhere along the line,it went wrong for him.

that version of Wlad would have gotten brutally stopped. today's version of Wlad wins 8/10 times but you can't improve a chin so there's always a high chance for an upset KO vs a big puncher like tua when you're wlad.

People talk about the early 2000's Wlad as if he's today's Wlad.

Today's Wladimir under MANNY STEWARD WILL ****ING **** TUA.

But that version of Wlad would have just gotten knocked the **** out

Pre Manny Wlad is **** compare to Manny Steward Wlad
