Lewis: "I didn't want my last fight stopped either... Just needed 1-2 more rounds."

Lennox was waiting to see if Kirk Johnson would beat Vitali. Then he sat on the belt for a little while after that and retired. Had Johnson won there is no doubt Lennox would have fought him. he just didn't want to get in there with an Iron Chinned Vitali again.

And in fact Lewis was arguing that himself before the Vitali fight.

Hindsight is 20/20 and his apologists like to make excuses for his performance while at the same time claiming he dominated Vitali -- it can't be both.

As someone who remembers the low opinion that so many had of Lewis when he was actually fighting, I find the great love of him today very amusing. I think the change has more to do with people who don't like the Klitschkos than anything else. As he was the one who was the champ before the "Klitschko era," he gets the benefit of the Klitschko haters moving into his camp.

Lewis won. Forget the tiredness, he seriously injured the man's face.
If the fight would have gone on Vitali would have won without doubt as Lewis was in no way fit.
The doctor did the correct thing in stopping the fight as although not from boxing, I've had eye injuries that bad (if not slightly worse) and it felt really odd (actually said to the A+E nurse i thought my eyeball was hanging out). One more punch from a heavyweight let alone a puncher as powerful as Lewis could have literally ripped his face apart.

Lewis won, but if it went on Vitali would have quite easily.
Yes he ducked a rematch, but he'd fought a lot of fighters that were better than Vitali at that point in time and had nothing to prove (people need to remember now he is mentioned as a HOF and an ATG, but back then he wasn't).

Yes. Cling to having been up on the cards against a fat shot old Lewis. (while having your face destroyed)

Fact is, Lewis will always be regarded throughout perpetuity as the far greater heavyweight and there will never be a chance for VK to tilt the scales with a h2h win. He had the one chance; it didn't happen, and he never got another. Boo hoo.

Even had he beaten him, honestly, the scales would have stayed where they were. Prime Lewis >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>, and historical review of all the available footage placed in meaningful context will hold that up down through the generations.

I admit, your vanity and threads about "being too good looking" along with avatars of yourself looking in the mirror do tend to grate a bit,but try to remember my reply to the PM you sent me.I hoped that would show that any debates we may have are just that, debates, and I prefer to be helpful rather than hurtful.
I' not even close to being a huge fan of Lewis,I just admire his achievements. However, along with Pacquaio, the brothers are fighters I have a great deal of respect for,and I don't have an iota of disdain for all three, but they all have a number amongst their fanbase for whom reality went out with A Flock Of Seagulls.
They base their whole idea of fanship on ridiculous notions and taint neutral observers' opinions of the actual fighters, because you can't have measured debate(and that's a diplomatic way of putting it) and litter their posts with words and phrases like "shut up ******" or "such and such is a gutless coward"(a clear sign of someone who hasn't even hit a heavy bag)

As for your opinion of Lewis not being shot, when I was young I caught the second phase of SRL's career.I was always delighted when a fight was announced, just for the opportunity to see my boxing hero.
Age and experience of life in general makes you realise that it would have been much better if he'd retired after Hagler, and the desire to see him fighting is purely selfish, with no regard for the guy's well being.A bit like hoping some bands reunite. Some things are best left alone.
What I'm saying is that whether or not you think Lennox was over the hill, something told him it was time to get out,and to follow through on that was genuinely admirable.I hope you realise that one day.Check out Terry Norris or Meldrick Taylor and most likely Roy Jones in a few years then tell me Lennox was wrong to follow his gut instinct.Despite what some are saying,Lewis will be remembered as perhaps the best example of a fighter going out at the right time. And what age he was or is doesn't matter, not everyone's body and mind are the same.
The only reason I'm pointing all this out because I'm confident you'll agree with at least some of it in five or ten years.
Now my fingers are sore, let's get back to topics that aren't so fundamental if you don't mind.:!:

Vit whooped his ass good. Masterful performance, exposed Lenox once and for all

Oh, almost forgot, chased him out of the sport and left him bitter and angry for life.

So now Lewis is ranked as number one among millions of bitter brittards :lol::lol:

It'll be interesting to see who some of these guys choose to rag on when the Klitschkos are gone, because I doubt anyone is going to be good enough to dominate the HW division, at least not anyone currently on the scene.

Your brittard perception cracks me up :lol::lol:

For the last time kiddo, Vit gave Lewis a beating of a life time, chased oot of boxing and left him bitter for life.

Now, back to homework and don't come out until your IQ reaches double digits.
