I was there live at the Williams-Cintron fight. It was good while it lasted. I took the picture below of Paul looking down on Cintron faking a serious injury after he fell out the ring. Get well soon Paul! This content is protected
in one of the other threads....there's an article posted that says his spine isn't severed. i'm pulling for him to get back to health...whether he walks again or not. paul is one of boxings good dudes who deserves the best.
not only do i hope he walks again, i hope boxes at an elite level again. that story would be movie type ****. get well soon champ.
For some reason one of my strongest memories of Paul is against one of his weakest opponents. The destruction of Andy Kolle. I think it was just the fact that nobody was sure how this lanky welterweight was going to look in what was essentially his middleweight debut (nevermind the cans in the first couple of years of his career, when he was basically a light middleweight going a few pounds over the limit every night), whether he'd carry up any pop, whether it would slow him down...and then BLAM! :scaredas: He kills a mother****er. :yep Nobody meaningful, but it was still nasty.
[yt]O28ltgQ1t5k[/yt] In case y'all forgot. Mind you, this was very soon after avenging the Quintana loss...also by KO1. People were thinking PTP was this generation's southpaw Hearns back in '08. :yep
This punch sticks as the first thing that comes to mind when I think about Paul, weird cause I've followed him since pre margarito. I loved this ****, me and my pop were cracking up laughing at this one. "you gonna hold my arm, that's aight I'll find a way to just keep punching anyways" Pauls determination and will to win was practically unparralleled and it's this drive to succeed at all costs that makes him a prime candidate for an unlikely recovery. Even after the Martinez KO the dude took it like a man and his will still couldn't be broken.
Yeah, PW IS a great fighter, I already erased that KO loss to Martinez and of course it has to do with his present situation but even that fight that I erased from my memory doesn't tell anything about a guy that would have had a big chance of becoming World Champ again against Saul Alvarez... He also would have a great chance to mark his signature at 160 pounds. I don't understand why these things happen, first Vernon Forrest, then Edwin Valero, now PW even though he will have a long and good life I do pray for, not to mention the G Man, Gerald McClellan...
