Most Overrated champions. Who you got ?

Calling Champions overrated :think Talk about a contradiction ?How can you be a champ and be overrated ? I don't think I will ever understand that !

 

Add clay or Ali and he's got my vote

 

slight edge to Jones for winning in dominant fashion while Joe barely eeked out a decision IMO.

I rate the B-Hop each guy fought about even though.....here's why:

B-Hop that fought Roy was not yet in his prime as far as boxing skill/ring iq but was in his athletic/physical prime

B-Hop that fought Joe C was clearly past his athletic/physical prime (which is near murder vs a volume guy like Joe) but B-Hops style allowed him success beyond his physical prime and his boxing skills/ring iq were more advanced than when he fought Jones.

so since I consider the B-Hop each fought to be about an equal challenge for different reasons you gotta go with the guy who performed better and that was Roy no doubt.

funny thing is I think the more athletic B-Hop that fought Roy would have done much better vs Joe than the B-Hop he faced and the opposite is also true that the smarter B-Hop Joe faced would have done better vs RJJ than a young B-Hop.

...and that streak also happened to include 16 former/present/future champs, top ranked contenders and p4p top 10 rated fighters....You dont see any of the top fighters today fight an average of 5 times a year anymore...And most if not ALL people who overrated him view him as a one dimensional, block punches with his face type brawler....

 

The guys on that list are pretty much hall of famers ..Wether they rank over certain fighters is a matter of opinion but overratted is a little harsh !

 

^^^^^ My thoughts too. I voted for Roy Jones, I didn't vote for Hamed cause I did not know anyone even rated him highly. Same for old Foreman, he won a belt, but was not champ, and no one considers that version of him great.

 

I wish I could pick Muhammad Ali...

 

Out of that list Toney takes it.Jones dominated him, was twice clowned by Griffin,went life and death with Williams and needed a gift to beat Tiberi. Good fighter just highly overrated , mostly by his fans.

 

From this list - Vitali. Then Pryor.

Huh did you really just post that ?

 

Toney is overrated if you call him an ATG, because he never stuck around long enough to do something amazing. However he did set new acheivement levels that would make him a HOFer - IMHO he just makes it into HOFer because although he never did an awful lot with any one belt, he won belts in divisions going up (dont count the IBU, that would be stupid but still an accomplishment).

But his inside boxing ability is not overatedat all. He was the best inside SMW fighter ever.

To put that in perspective, i dont consider Barry McGuigan to be a real HOFer, hes barely there and only because he beat one overthehill legend - hes really just an Outstanding acheiveer
