I've never been into the legacy or 'career' of Tarver. As a tarver fan its the style, athleticism and boxing that I like. Until the steroids I would watch a tarver fight any day only because i m interested his style of fighting. missed out on tarver v taylor He will be remembered as the guy who KOd roy jones and marked the end of roys prime
i do not hold his positive PED test result against him just like i don't do it against any1 else because even those who weren't caught use/d it . At least d vast majority of them . I think that Tarver's division was not stacked but certainly was stronger by far than Bob Foster's division . Eric Harding beat Tarver , and b4 u reply with d : "but Tarver KOd him in d rematch" know that Tarver stopped him in d rematch as opposed 2 "KOd" and that Harding came off injury and was not fully healed , so in d only fight that mattered between them , Harding beat Tarver . In Tarver's defense he was much more drained against Hopkins that Jones was against him , and 4 those who think that Jones was past his prime against Tarver , Tarver was and is 1 year older than Jones and went through a drug abuse . Also , Jones was fresh 4 his ring Xperience as he rarely fought live opponents prior 2 Tarver and it may b claimed that including Tarver .. It is fair 2 state that Tarver was on par with Miguel Cotto , maybe slightly less , maybe slightly more . (in my lists) Tarver is a borderline top 100 ATG P4P , and a borderline top 30 h2h @ 175 lbs . I may slightly change my mind about both of these claims , but it's about where he should b ranked . Actually if i will compile a h2h list @ 175 , i will probably have him in my top 20 . But it depends on things that i still don't know and on how on d criteria on who 2 include @ 175 and who not 2 .
