When Roach said that pac slowed down in the last 2 rounds, does it mean he's now doing self preservation like Floyd or just a kind of another excuse that he has no more power leftt to knockout Bradley or anyone? Roach said, It was a logical thing to do under the circumstances in order not to open himself to injury that might jeopardize his career, .
Moronic hater statement. Floyd is a defensive fighter, and has been that way for 95% of his career. However, Pac's D has been much improved. His face hasn't shown much facial damage in his last 3 fights.
That's true. I've never been impressed with Pac's defense -- in fact, it's made me cringe at times -- but against Bradley it was pretty good. Not masterful or anything, but very alert and above average. In the past three fights he's been careful not put himself in harm's way. Much of that has probably got to do with the opponents not being aggressive like others have been (Cotto, Marg, etc), but still, his defense has been better. Akin to what it was against Oscar.
pac has been selective of his punches now rather than being a high-workrate guy like he was in his prime or even just 3 years ago. this is not more of a choice but because he is sliding down and aging. if he still can do what he did against delahoya, hatton and cotto, he is better off with it. remember that pac is always a very accurate puncher even with his high workrate.
It's not a hater statement, Pacquiao relied much more on his speed and his fast paced movements than Floyd ever did. Fighting his all 1 minute per round isn't exactly effective is it?
No roach is making excuses, for a lackluster performance. PAC is slowing down, he has 2-3 fights in him at the most.
Biggest mistake Pac ever made was starting a new career in the midst of one that was on fire. Most boxers don't have second jobs. Their job when not fighting is to train. Nacho predicted that Pacquiao would lose to Marquez because Pacquiao was too busy doing other **** and that his focus could be affected. Bradley is now saying that Pacquiao looked old, and disinterested the whole time, and said that the man was far too busy to be an elite boxer. It's common sense, really. I couldn't have done as well as I had in college if I held a part time job.
Pacquiao is definitely starting to show his age, and early too. He looked rather washed up against Marquez to be honest, but against Mosley and Margarito he was made to look good. He doesn't struggle to win at WW, but he definitely doesn't have the power to win by a KO. He doesn't have those wasp like movements anymore either. Study his foot movement, he's very flat footed compared to what he was. Pacquiao didn't have the stamina to fight for 3 minutes per round, so he decided to have late 1 minute flurries each round. Bradley was stupid, he should have got on his bike for the last minute of each round.
styles are completely different. But pacquiao is not giving his all anymore i think. He's less willing to bang it out heavily like he used to.
Being cautious is not a "style." But Manny I think is trying to fight smarter as he slows down a bit.
