Who would win if Cotto and Canelo fought this year?

I'd back Cotto to win on points. I think he's a better fighter than Canelo. Would love to see this one though. Could be the first non-Pacquiao and non-Mayweather 1m+ ppv in years maybe?

    Thoughts? :bbb

    Alvarez would stop Cotto.
Body work, Hooks & uppercuts = bad formula for Miguel.

The boxing won't work either because the Kid won't follow Cotto around the ring.
Alvarez has a very patient style w/explosive counters.

kinda reminds me of a bootleg Floyd... Obviously not the defense
    (But like the 130 version)

  3. Cotto by decision in a very entertaining fight.

cotto is a midget at 154. he is on the very backside of his career, and while it would have a few ood fireworks, cotto would be over powered or overwhelmed

I think Alvarez might take this one, you can tell by his body frame he's way more suited to 154 than Cotto is.

As long as Canelo stays in shape and is mentally focused, he should win this fight easily. Canelo is going to be a 22-year-old fighter, in his prime, while Cotto is on the back side of his career.

I'd take Cotto on a competitive UD. What many should realize, the jump from canelo's comp to date to Cotto would be HUGE. Every fight Canelo has had so far in his career, the outcome had already been known. not once has he been in a fight vs. a top 5 Jr MW, or even someone whom you can say had a pretty good shot at winning.

Alvarez would stop him late or win a decision.

Damn good fight. It's hard to be objective when it comes to my favorite fighter, but I would be concerned that Cotto might be biting off more than he can chew. He is small for 154 an would need to hit Canelo with something hard enough to slow him down. If Cotto can't do that, Canelo walks him down in the later rounds and inflicts serious damage.

Cotto early with Canelo coming on late. Cotto won't win a decision against Canelo regardless though so I'll have to say Canelo 'does enough'. Of course, Oscar's record for picking 'opponents' took a big hit last night. Canelo got to be wondering if he is trusting the right guy...... :D
