It's kind of funny that Ortiz got his jaw broken, not because he's ******ed but because me and my buddy were talking about how he fights with his mouth open. Since the first round we noticed it and brought up the fact that he could get his jaw broken like that. And then what do you know ..... Are there other fighters that do this? Now that I think about it I've never noticed it before.
Vitali Klitschko always does it. And inevitably somebody always points it out who's never noticed it and says it's because he was exhausted throughout the fight.
Fighting with your mouth open is usually a recipe for disaster. Arthur Abraham does it a fair amount, but then again he's had his jaw broken too. Michael Katsidis seems to do it a lot. Edwin Valero almost always fought with his mouth open, and I always gave him crap for it. Roy Jones did it from time to time in his prime, but it's not a serious impediment if people can't actually hit you on the chin. Gatti used to do it a lot, but that's probably mostly because he got his nose broken every other fight and a man's gotta breathe.
Lol I remember Abraham getting his jaw broken but at least he had good defense. Ortiz was sticking his open mouth out just asking for it.
Vernon Forrest I recall having a HUGE mouth peice that kept his mouth open, I don't know if its the same though.
As long as he can bite into the mouthpiece it it's not that bad But tis Best having the jaw in a position where its close as possible to bieng in its shut position When fighters attack they should be exhailing so there isn't much reason to have your mouth wide open.
i think a lot of fighters fight while breathing through their mouths but it is a bad habit if its too open
:rofl It's funny hearing commentators who clearly don't follow Vitali's fights say "HE'S GASSED! Look at him breathe through his mouth!" I wonder if breathing through the mouth from round 1 is what helps Vitali keep up his insane work rate?
