Best sparring partners since Peter 1!

It's true, all you have to do is say 70's to one of today's heavyweights and their knees will buckle.

 

He's not horrible.

In sparring, when compared to an actual fight, any advantage given is almost always to the less skilled fighter (because of bigger gloves, headgear, multiple sparring partners vs 1 fighter, etc...). This is why many who are great sparring partners, aren't as good of fighters themselves.

Thompson is or was a good fighter. But it's an open question as to how much he has left. The real intrigue in the upcoming fight is how thoroughly Vlad dominates Thompson. Will Thompson make a competitive fight out of it (as he did before), or will Vlad turn him into roadkill, quickly and easily?

As for Thompson's prospects against Foreman, rest assured: the peak Thompson would have been a top contender in the '70s. Thompson is (or was) that good. Foreman would have KO'd him, no doubt, but there's no shame in that.

 

This Rosberg guy has been fighting pro for four years, without having stepped up his level of comp. That makes me wonder. He also has a poor KO ratio, which raises questions about his power.

I am cautious regarding Rosberg. I'd need to see Rosberg in action against a credible foe before I get high on him.

Imo the problem isn't his power. He has good power & he has shown he can knock guys out with 1 punch. The problem with Rosberg has been his mentality. He has admitted having panic attacks and problems with fear in the past, but his confidence has risen lately. He has been to timid in the ring. Often he has seemed better in the sparring --> more relaxed, but come fight day he's often become more stiff, too nervous. But the talent is there. His coach has also taken some blame on the poor KO ratio to himself, saying that the gameplan has been to play it safe, ie not risk too much going after ko.

Anyway Rosberg has been challenging Helenius a lot through Finnish media lately. This fight, Rosberg-Helenius, if it would come through, would surely fill up the Arenas in Finland.
I would say that Rosberg is not a walkthrough for Robert. Rosberg moves well for a big guy, has punching power. A southpaw with good countering ability. Also a sturdy chin as Klitchko too just found out.

 

Anybody who really knows anything about Rosberg, knows that he HAS THE ABILITY TO BOX VERY WELL.

But usually we have seen this only in sparring.

In competitive matches, Rosberg has fought under his ability and has the tendency to drop to his opponent´s level. This has to be reckoned too.

But I can easily believe that Jarno did well in the sparring, because he really IS a good boxer. He just needs to grow to the level where he could also demonstrate it when it matters the most. Perhaps he never will, but why FINNISH people talk **** about Jarno on international forums is very much beyond me!

Honestly, all my trolling in boxing.fi isn´t bad, if you compare it to Finnish people bullshitting their country-mates here!

Rosberg´s matchmaking has consisted of mostly guys, who never even thought about coming to get the win. This needs to be changed. Of course it´s a risk, but if P3 doesn´t take it - Jarno is a useless operator in their team.

 

I think it is okay to talk **** about a proven steroid cheat.......

 

Rosberg failed a drug test back in 2009! tut tut.
