WEll of course if you're an *******, Chavez Jr fan and Martinez hater. Then yeah, they are not professional in what they are doing.

The only time were i thought "okay this is f*cked up" Is when Tarver had Pascal winning against Hopkins in their first fight. Or when they denied Froch-Bute.

Watch HBO a tale of nuthuggery :hey

I dont let them get to me. I'm usually too involved in the fight to worry about them, and outside of that HBO is a classier network. Showtime is little brother, and always has been. the only time Showtime has had the upper hand occurred when they snagged mike tyson in the mid 90's, and created the S6 tournament, but in terms of normal and championship boxing telecasts, HBO is king.

HBO have lost a lot of credibility in recent times as far as i'm concerned

max kellerman in particular, i used to value his opinion but not anymore. lampley and lederman have not been worth regard for some time

i've seen that video, remarkably accurate portrayal of HBO's bias

I think most "hardcore" boxing enthusiasts will say Showtime has been one upping HBO over the past few years. . They've REALLY stepped their game up.

They don't try to force "house fighters" down our throats by "showcasing" them every 3-4 months against the bum of the month. . . They don't care - they just try to make the best fights. . They don't try to act as promotors as much. . . AND I like how they went G-MODE on Andre Ward when he was ducking Bute. . .

But there's just something classical about HBO boxing, where I can't abandon them. . .

They put on some excellent fights sometimes as well... And I actually like their broadcasting team, even thugh their bias sometimes. . .

I like both Showtime, and HBO, ultimately. . . I would def. subscribe to Showtime if it wasn't just as easy to watch their fights online, though. . .

    Gus Johnson, that's why.

"Where is the old Juanma?" meanwhile a fight of the year is unfolding.

  6. The tale of HBO vs Showtime goes way back beyond the last 3 years of pro boxing. Most of the important boxing matches in the last 30 years have been on HBO or Showtime... Keep moving forward with an open mind.

I think HBO is a bit short-sided when it comes to certain things. Although they are both doing better.

HBO gave us Fight Day Now! which is cool for the big fights even if it falls short, they trying.

Showtime has the undercards which is great as well. Get to see the prospects and upcoming guys who don't get TV time otherwise.

I do think Showtime was weak this past weekend for not even mentioning Antonio Tarver...

HBO Commentators hate Martinez and that is a FACT! Did anyone here them saying he was no good, and if that was the "best" MW, and that he wasn't doing much.....and them PAM! The KO came :rofl :rofl

Classical move by the HBO team. They hate or try to discredit the not so much "followed" boxers in favor of the most popular boxers. It never fails!

Gus Johnson's idiocy outweighs any 4 HBO announcer's biases any day.

Paul Williams was popular? Last I remember, he couldn't draw 2k people . . .

HBO LOVES Martinez - to the point of him probably being their most prized "house fighter."

They give him 1.5 million to fight Macklin, and Barker.

If PW couldn't draw 2k that is more than what Martinez can draw as he has no fan base due to his nationality. Same with Lara, Gamboa, etc. Good boxers for the hard core fans but not good enough for HBO or the casuals.

The real "house fighters" or the fighters that HBO wants to keep as winners are the fighters that can sell on this country. And those are ofcourse Mexcians or Mexican-Americans, Blacks and Puerto Ricans and your good American fighter. Any other nationality and is hard to sell because of the "support".
