Im a boxing fan first and foremost and Cotto vs Floyd was quite entertaining, while I only gave Cotto 3 clear rounds the fight itself was much closer than the cards would reveal. 50 years ago we wouldnt even be debating the topic and these men would be going about the normal formalities of rematching and creating the foundational work for epic trilogies and rematches that stay imortalized in our minds even if you where not on this earth at the time... The Basilio vs Robinson's the Saddler vs Pep's the Paret vs Emanuel's....son on and so forth. Sadly today's boxing soceity dynamic has changed....along with the fans that appreciate the fight game. I can't blame most of you for not wanting to watch this fight again you are products of the current boxing frame as am I, though I beleive I have an old soul. Let them fight again (unfortunate we have to shell out the dollars to view it) the level of boxing in the previous bout was why I love this sport so much. Props to Cotto and Floyd....say what you want and feel how you feel but these boys put on a show that I expect only true afficionado's could acknowledge and take heed to.

If these guys fought as much as the guys from back in the day did, I would have no problem with this fight.

But nowadays, guys like Floyd fight twice a year and he ain't getting any younger.

That's why it's imperative that Floyd and Pac fight eachother now. After that, they can fight whoever they want.

Because of the current state of boxing I would have to agree with you here. Let Floyd dismantle Pac ;) and ponder the future of his career afterwards.

As I've been saying since 2009, Cotto's style will always be difficult for someone like Mayweather. Only an aggressive, one-dimensional style with power can trouble/panic Cotto and force him on the defensive. When he's the aggressor fighting a defensive fighter, he's comfortable and you wouldn't want a fighter like Cotto comfortable in there.

Mayweather still beats him based on speed and defense but I wouldn't be surprised if the rematch was closer. Even if it was at 147 this fight won't be easy for Mayweather.

Can't see the second fight being much different than the first one, unless age and prison time catch up with Mayweather. Cotto put in a good performance and was still well outpointed on the scorecards so hard to see him raising his game enough to win it second time around.

Where in the article does it say Mayweather v Cotto is happening on December 1? Just cause the date is penciled for Cotto at the MSG and he turned down a Canelo fight doesn't mean Mayweather has agreed to fight him!
Also when has Mayweather ever fought at MSG, all his future fights will be probably at MGM.... MSG and Staples Centre is something Mayweather has never ventured into because it doesn't make as much economical sense.

Besides, he hasn't fought outside of his hometown for almost 8 years now. I doubt he'll start now.

    totally agree.

i get the feeling there is resentment towards cotto the same way there is resentment towards bradley. both of these guys were supposed to be inferior fighters. the fans have bought into the p4p myth. there are other high level boxers out there who will give floyd and pac a run for their money. cotto and bradley were supposed to be ktfo'd. those who know boxing knew better. i can't wait for the rematch.

I love Miguel Cotto and thought he gave a great accounting of himself in the first fight. A second fight would likely be very similar, exciting with a 116-112 Mayweather UD.

Yes, I would watch it again, but I would rather watch Cotto in a fight with a less predictable outcome.

I'm good. I thought the Cotto(e) we saw against Floyd was the best Cotto(e) ever. Floyd is the type of fighter that does better in rematches.
