The shoulder-roll stance is open to that shot, due to the positioning and angle of the body. (Along with the southpaw straight left.)

Because Mayweather counters jabs with right hands over the top. Sometimes he does it in a way that is too quick to catch, but other times (such as when he uses his pull counter) it's very easy to spot. When opponents have success with the jab, Mayweather discourages them with his right hand counters. It's harder for him when he comes up against good jabbers like Hoya and Cotto, but he still pulls it off.

He fought a 165lb ODLH with 10 oz gloves in an amateur size ring and beat him pretty comfortably IMO.

If he had 8 oz gloves I am prety sure ODLH would have not been that agrressive as he was getting countered regularly after the 6th round.

As far as past his best, yes ODLH was, but he had a nice KO of Mayorga in his previous fight and looked strong at the weight.

ODLH had success early but like all of FLoyd's fights (exception of castillo where Floyd dominated early and JLC adjusted later and Augustus who doesnt have a style, lol) ... once he figures your style out, he takes care of business.

Any fighter can land a jab on anyone, that is its purpose, to set up your other punches and keep distance. It is not a damaging punch. They don't land "big damaging hooks" because he can avoid and block them.

It's hard to keep landing your jab when someone is controlling you with their jab. It is probably the most misunderstood punch as most people on here dont realise it's purpose

    Typical sign of weakness.

You share some of Pacquiao's attributes.

IMO it's inactivity. Its what allowed the Oscar fight to be a SD win. Though this hasn't been the case in his most recent fights.

I also miss that killer instinct he had to finish an opponent who was clearly ready to taste the canvas.

:good well put. Also when Floyd's straight right, which is certainly his signature punch starts to become easier to spot (Cotto fight being a prime example) he adapts and mixes it up throwing the right hook in there, as well as the straight right.

"For some reason it wasn't the night of the jab" - Oscar De La Hoya

Oscar stopped using his jab because Mayweather started using his pull counter, and it's as simple as that.

There's a reason they give up on their jabs. It isn't their choice.

Floyd's biggest weakness is that he has good but not great durrability at welterweight and that he can be overwhelmed by volume and lose rounds with judges that favour work rate and punches thrown over accuracy.
