So did others. I'm not saying they were necessarily better fighters, but they may have been able to nab belts at mw, and if they had they would have been champs or former champs. Point is the act in and of itself does not make them a higher quality fighter.

Another highly original thread from Icefaggot.

Oh wait, sorry, I thought it was 2008.

    Revision:

Another pointless, dated piece of shite from Icefaggot designed to further his own agenda.

Hopkins defended all four belts numerous times, so he was a true reigning unified champion of the division, Calzaghe never was. Hopkins's win over Trinidad is light years ahead of anything Calzaghe ever did. Hopkins's performances in the fights against Trinidad, Glen Johnson, Keith Holmes, William Joppy and the second one with Antwun Echols demonstrated levels of skill, technique and quality that Calzaghe never, ever came close to matching, seeing as he was a workrate-based volume puncher with horrendous punching technique.

yeah I am not sure why this is being debated. both of them are a bit weakish in places, but Joe C's is a lot weaker, single title reign, if slightly longer.

Hopkins get the definite lead surely. Its not a BIG difference, but its substantial enough to be unanimous surely. Its not a SD against a fortysomething lol.

It should not be overlooked on this POS thread that even though Hopkins has the lower-weight resume...

    Keith Holmes stopped Richie Woodhall,
    Howard Eastman beat Evans Ashira,
Antwun Echols stopped Charles Brewer in 3,
and Antwun Echols beat Kabary Salem.

Also, Hopkins clearly deserved the decision in one if not two of the Taylor fights despite being considerably past his physical prime.

Well that much is obvious, but doesn't factor into a discussion of their mw/smw reigns since it was at lhw.

Calzaghes record is actually good for someone holding just the baby title in SMW (which is what the WBO title was when he got it). He was a big fish in a small pool

Hopkins record is weak for a unified undisputed champ that he was. You'd expect a few more big fights from an ATG. He was a shark swimming with other sharks.

hey BerolPee, your a pretty interesting poster :smoke

your entire posting history on esb is to slate joe calzaghe, also the only thread you ever started was a calzaghe bashing thread :yep

    now let me have a good think here . . . . . .where have we seen this before? . . . . . . . . . . . :think

what kind of alter ego would committ his entire existance to trolling calzaghe threads :think

who is that fragile in their own opinion that they need a back up alter ego to roll off :think

who could possible be as pissy as this :patsch

Have to give it to Hopkins but not by much ...Too many premature stoppages for Joe to give him that edge ..Both great reigns though ..They almost mirror each other ..
