Is applying pressure the best way to fight Floyd Mayweather?

My once glorious 16000 vanished along with Bute's chin, Drozzy, Beastside Boxing and Badlock.

 

Effective pressure is the best way to fight any pure boxer but is has to be effective. I disagree however that Floyd ever once did not know how to handle Victor or Hatton's pressure. In fact, I thought the pressure, especially Victor's was pretty much uneffective.

 

Of course you need to pressure him. I'd say it's important to throw a good jab and follow and have a high work rate so to keep him from controlling the fight, then when he steps off the gas try and get close and hook to the boody.

If you had skills like pernell whitaker you might be able to beat Floyd at his on game though. Mayweather can probably only lose to a bigger talent or a bigger man due to his high boxing intelligence

 

The "effective pressure" plan had been tried and failed so many times. The best thing to do with Floyd is "work" yes, but more importantly have a solid defense and good footwork...try and make him chase and counter him. He's so skilled handling pressure that I just can't see that working. As he ages and his skills erode, more options will be out there in terms of ways to beat him.

 

Educated pressure or slick southpaw.

 

No. The best would be a "never get tired" version of Zab Juda, with a lot more heart.
