CARL Froch's promoter, Eddie Hearn, is locked in talks about a re-match with former IBF world champion Lucian Bute.

"There should be some news on Carl next week," said Hearn.

"I have had lengthy discussions with Lucian Bute's team this week and it's likely the rematch will take place early in 2013 in Montreal."

Hearn has not given up hope of a Froch re-match with Mikkel Kessler.

"There has been plenty of hype around the Kessler fight. It's a fight we all want, but sometimes making a fight of this magnitude isn't always easy.

"Carl would step into the ring with Mikkel at any moment, but meeting his financial demands may cause more of an issue.

"Either way the fight will happen, this year or the next. It's too big a fight and occasion to miss out on."

I like froch but he should take an easier fight than kessler straight up.

Bute needs to win a few bouts before stepping back in the ring with Froch, if he doesn't I won't be even slightly interested, there would be no hype train for Bute, everyone would know Froch is going to win (80% of people will know this even if Bute rebulids himself)

I'd like to see a Kessler rematch first ..Bute needs a tune up to build some confidence before the Cobra takes it away again ..

80% of people "knew" that Bute was going to win the last bout.

I agree but this seems like Bute's last train. It wouldn't be a problem if he had plenty left but this one seems to be the only one right now.
Even his worst enemies never thought he will slip that much in the rankings after the Froch loss. He is like 6th or 5th at best at IBF and it doesn't matter at all in other rankings.
The hype will reach him again like after his 10th consecutive win against Ward, Kessler and Vitali :).
I don't really expect him to win the Froch rematch. I just wish him to prove it was an accident. I mean I would consider a 12UD for Froch a big acomplishment for Bute :D.

If Bute-Froch 2 happens soon, without more than 1 interim fight for each man, I wonder what kind of PPV numbers it would pull?

Personally, I'd be dying to see it, but would the general public?

    Bute will never beat Froch.

the rematch will be similar to Juanma-Salido II

No interest in a rematch with Bute. Not at this stage anyway. Hopefully they can get the Kessler fight sorted.

I'd be interested in a rematch. Im usually not a fan of rematching a one sided fight. But Bute was so hyped up before that loss. He deserves a chance to avenge it.
