I would say Monzon by a decision. Very tough call since both are boxing masters, but I think Monzon's strength and rough housing along with his great judgement of distance takes this. Hopkins very much liked to spoil the other man's fight but that wouldn't happen here. Carlos was VERY strong and a bit of a spoiler himself. I think Monzon man handles Hopkins on the inside and unloads accurate, precise straight lefts and rights on the outside en route to a decision
Monzon by decision. I think I actually read an article a few years ago where Hopkins said that, among the Middleweight legends, Carlos was the one he's struggle with the most. I can't see Hopkins being able to use any of his tricks to throw Monzon off his game, or make him engage only when he wants to. Monzon was just as good at things like that. He had an excellent jab which I'm sure would trouble Hop and wouldn't get out-muscled on the inside. A lot of Bernards success is due to his intelligence, showing his opponents looks they haven't seen before - Monzon seen it all through his career though. Hopkins is good, and smart, enough to make it competitive but I have a hard time seeing anything but a clear points win for Monzon (who I rank as the greatest 160lb'er ever).

I'm going to be a controversial newbie here! i haven't seen lots of monzon as he was before my generation. I just watched some youtube vids and i think that B-Hop could pull a surprise here. Both appear good at taking each others strengths away and have high punch resistance. However, B-Hop has that single punch accuracy that i think will pick up more rounds in what would be a scrappy fight. Monzon appeared to throw a lot of blind power shot with his head down. Could be vulnerable to single shot straight rights an upper cuts. It would be tight though. just an opinion.
