Because the WBC doesn't believe in unifications when it comes to Canelo, specially ones that have a shot at winning yet they are okay with Ward and Khan/Garcia unification. :D

Would have preferred Rosado but this is at least better than Maidana at 154.

Pissing contest I guess. Seems like a stupid thing to do because they really risk diminishing the Canelo brand somewhat. Their choice though. That's why they make the big bucks and we're internet board posters. :D

I'm hoping Carlos shows up which he has done before. No he's not the preferred opponent by any means, but he can definitely box and prove himself worthy for a guy of Canelo's experience. I think we're all going to be a little surprised on how close this fight will be in the early rounds!

Ward had to fight Froch as part of the super 6 which is how he won and unified the WBC title. Khan's fight with Garcia was only for WBC title when it was arranged.

Come to think of it, didn't WBC strip Bradley for not having a unification match with Khan?

I agree with people being unhappy about this opponent. I'm very disappointed. Like I said, three other dudes fell through, so now we have this garbage fight, but ill give GBP a pass on this because of the circumstances.

Well, I guess it'll be one more before we see a fight that will truly have Canelo fans happy. Bring on cotto right after, that's what I want to see.

I like to see Puerto Rico vs Mexico cards, they're interesting, the Passion both sides show is intriguing.

Still, the three opponents who fell through did not bring the possibility of unifying the title or facing a top ranked contender at 154. I don't give GBP a pass here, not when they made it evident neither Lara or K9 were ever even considered.

I know cotto's probably shaking his head to this fight, because he demolished a prime quintana and now canelo is fighting a washed up version of him.

    Stinks.

Quintana was a great fighter a few years back, but he bulked up too much, fighting above his weight class which nullified his best qualities.

At his best, he was a helluva counterpuncher.
