What was the worst robbery?

Although I think most of those fights were wrong decisions, I believe the most flagrantly wrong one, where one guy just plain comfortably defeated the other guy and didn't get thewin, was Lewis-Holyfield I. Frankly, I think it is very plausible this fight was, in fact, a Don King fix.

 

I think De La Hoya beat Trinidad

Holmes beat Spinks the second time

De La Hoya I feel beat Mosley the second time

Foreman beat Briggs AND Axel Schultz

I thought Sturm edged De La Hoya

 

DLH definitely beat Trinidad and had a good argument for beating Mosley. AND Foreman got beat by Savarese.

But none of these are close to being the WORST ROBBERY. They were all close fights.

 

The one that comes to mind for me was Gerrie Coetzee vs Renaldo Snipes in about august 1981. "Mister" Snipes was beaten from pillar to post for ten rounds. I believe Coetzee also knocked Snipes down about two or three times for good measure. But for some inexplicable reason Snipes' hand was raised at the end. Weird.

 

Really, Lewis-Holyfield I was the classic example. They (Lewis' people) should have sued the stupid woman who screwed that fight up. Lewis dominated him. Harold Johnson-Willie Pastrano has always been called a robbery, but I'm such a fan of both of those guys that I have a hard time working up the outrage about it. Maybe it should have been a draw, but to me that fight was a defensive technician fan's masterpiece. Tyrone Everett-Alfredo Escalera was pretty outrageous, as was Carlos Zarate-Lupe Pintor, Ali-Young and of course, Ali-Norton III.

 

Holyfield-Lewis is the most obvious one. However, Louis - Walcott I may have been equally bad, but i don't have all 15 rounds of that one, nevermind in DVD quality. So that makes it hard to judge. Same for Schmeling vs Sharkey II.

I scored Ali vs Norton III and Young not the way the judges did but they were closer than Holyfield-Lewis I.

 

the amazing thing about that 5th round is that the female judge claimed she didn't have a good view of the fight and that lewis back was turned to her for most of the round.

HBO ran the tape and it infact shows that she had a side on view for much of the round. lewis most dominating round in the whole fight.

Lennox Lewis was robbed badly but at least they gave him a DRAW. They didn't say he flat-out lost and took away his title. So, it wasn't the worst robbery.

And i believe that in the contract/rules it said that if there was an injury, the Johnson - Johnson fight would be declared a draw.. i'm not sure on that one though. Do you have a source that Jim won most of the rounds?

 

Threre's no such thing as a robbery. The judges are professionals at what they do. I for one trust them.
