I guess you never heard of Cotto, and Martinez if he can land a fight with a Canelo or Mayweather.

Even Canelo has better footwork than Lara.

Lara has a tendency to stand right in front of his opponent. I admit that Lara utilized good footwork against Paul Williams, and there is a possibility he may have had an off night against Hernandez, but if a C level fighter can get this guy against the ropes and get punches through his defense, there is clearly something lacking in his game.

Maybe you should stop being a fanatic, and then you will be able to judge fighters more objectively.

I don't hate Lara. I just see how K9 could cause him problems with his strong, aggressive, mauling, and unorthadox power punching style.

Lara has a tendency to stay in one place for too long, he hasn't shown a consistant body attack, his power seems to be overrated, and he has defensive lapses.

He is not a complete fighter despite what people on here are trying to make him out to be.

Now, Canelo is not complete either, but I can see this. I'm not a blind fanatic that sees no wrong.

This would be a very difficult fight for Lara unless Lara clips K9 early and takes him out.

If not, he'll be in for a long night of sustained pressure, mauling, and hard punches getting through his guard.

Molina already gave him trouble, and while Molina probably has better technique, I think K9 is a more dangerous opponent, and seems like he's better conditioned, if you consider that Molina has tendency to hold on to the point to where you have to question his sexuality.

 

Damn, you are a fanatic. I agree with you when you talk about Gamboa. Gamboa in my opinion has great footwork. Gamboa can do it all, although with his favored style (on the outside), he may have problems with a guy like Broner.

Lara though does not have impeccable footwork. If he did, his fight with Hernandez would not have gone 10 rounds.

He needs to improve on his body attack and his mobility. He can't afford to stand in front of his opponents and simply put the earmuffs on.

Canelo will take advantage of this by banging him to the body, and really testing his heart because Canelo has some impact on his punches, so even when Lara puts his earmuffs on, shots will get through.

If Lara wants to beat Canelo, he needs to focus on the same thing. A body attack, and mobility.

Think about it. Martinez is a much better puncher than Lara, yet he still doesn't stand in front of his opponent, put his guard up and take shots.

That's what seperates a great fighter from a good fighter.

But unless he does, he will never be great.

In reference to Canelo, he has defensive lapses too, but he shows decent mobility. He continues to improve. To be honest, I was disapointed with Lara. He did not look like a future superstar. He also showed mental weakness.

 

My bad, Canelo always gets pushed back to the ropes against a C level fighter that got knocked out in one punch by Berto.
