Because they are naturally smaller guys. The main 2 current Mexican heavyweights (Chris Arreola and Andy Ruiz) are both ****ing fat, because they should be at lower weights.
Most of the big mexicans who can fight work for the cartels sort of like the real heavyweight champion is playing football right
They not really mexicans. They americans of mexican descent. But the mcdonalds and taco bells seems to be helping. All the other big mexicans or mexican americans playing soccer, baseball, football, or wrestling.
Well of course its a combonation of genetics, diet and breeding. In all honesty it takes nothing away from the strength those little dudes pack in those compact bodies. I boxed for a number of years because of the intense training and they where always the hardest guys to hurt even me at 6'3 225lbs (I'm pretty heavy handed) found it difficult to stop them unless I really sat down on my punches. I mean I once sparred this guy (Mexican) about 5'10 200lbs pretty big hands for his size...my hands are about 8 3/4inches palm to tip of finger and this guy hand the same size mitts he hit like a mule and took some of my best power punches. At the end of our sparring match he told me it felt like a bear was smacking him in the face and we laughed but I though **** man if thats that case why didnt your ass take a step back...lmao!
This is almost as ludicrous as wondering why there hasn't been a Japanese HW Champion. It's because generally speaking, Mexicans don't get that big.
Wrong there are'nt any prominent greats (eg Chavez, Barrera, Morales, Marquez, etc) who are Japanese in the lower divisions. In relation to the Mexicans my question was to why it didn't translate to heavyweight.
I can only speak off of personal experience and it seems the taller the Mexican was the more extreme the physique became (eg...they where either slim to frail or morbidly obese) I never fought one above say 6'1 and even then they didnt have your typical fighters build. We all know appreance means almost nothing in the ring but in all honesty these guys where nothing like their smaller more compact and evenly distributed/proportioned counter parts.
I don't buy the processed food bit, eastern Europeans don't eat processed food either yet are massive in stature
