Has Pacman ever beaten an elite boxer in their prime?

* Barerra was considered to be a dominant featherweight when he met Pac the first time around and at/near the peak of his powers. He's the logical answer to this question.

* Sakasul wasn't necessarily elite, but he was coming off a sweet win over a historically underrated Arbachacov, so it's a good win for a young, green as hell Pac.

* Since I gave Pac the edge in the second fight (my scorecard for the trilogy reads 1-1-1), Marquez would be a third choice to the question.

 

Barrera was prime. Guys here act like a fighters prime is only 1 fight long. Examine Barrera's record surronding the fight and you'd have to be either an idiot, a troll or a hater to say he wasn't prime.

- he was only 29 years old
- he was recognized as the champ of the division even though he wasn't carrying a belt into the ring. he lost his belt through politics not in the ring.
- He hadn't lost in over 3 years and 9 fights with his previous loss being a highly contested debatable decision over another hall of famer
- He didn't lose again for another 6 fights and 3 more years again losing only to another future hall of famer

He looked like **** in that fight because Manny (a 3-1 underdog) brought it and kicked his ass not because he was past prime. You guys act like anyone that didn't fight a guy on the night of his greatest win beat a shot fighter

 

Barrera, Marquez, Cotto, Clottey, Hatton

 

Cotto was not prime but I agree with you on Barrera. He didn't beat Marquez in the 1st fight and Marquez was old and past his prime in the second fight.

 

Hatton, Cotto weren't in their prime. Marquez wasn't in his prime in the second fight.

You think Cotto was already past prime? I'd say, technically, Miguel is a better boxer now than he was then. So in terms of boxing skill perhaps he hadn't even reached 'prime'. But physically he was prime I think, despite the Margarito beating. He was only 28.

 

I agree but if you noticed he improved techincally when he got with Steward and then Diaz. When he fought Pacquiao he wasn't with these guys yet.

 

I would say arguably Barrera and Marquez (Although I think they under estimated Pac in their first fights) and Bradley.
