Mayweather - Cotto II makes no sense

Yeah I don't think a rematch makes any sense at all from a boxing standpoint. The fight was good and of course more competitive than people originally thought it would be, but Floyd won clearly enough.

I would love to see Cotto vs Canelo, it's one of my dream fights at the moment.

 

It does not make sense but it does not hurt Mayweather's legacy to fight a guy again who is looked on as such a good fighter.

 

Yeah and Cotto did himself proud that night. I think fans would definitely watch a rematch.

 

cotto is my favourite current fighter , i agrre 110% with this thread , would rather him face pacman or saul. and then mabye maywetaher again if he wins his next one.

 

I dont understand how people are trying to say Floyd dominated. It was a close conpetitive fight.

 

The first was a very good fight. From a fans perspective though, there's nothing that Cotto brings that can beat Floyd. Hence, I wouldn't be interested in seeing this fight again. There's better fights out there for Floyd to make

I just dont see how some are saying Floyd dominated Cotto. The first 3 out 4 rounds were clearly Floyd's. Other than that and the last punch Floyd landed in the last round, this fight was damn real close. The scorecards did not reflect what took place. This fight was very competitive and Floyd was being beaten at times at his own game. Not surprisingly we know who got the close rounds in this fight. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch especially in MSG. But very few fighters and I know Floyd would not agree to fight in NY, out of their comfort zone.

 

I agree I think that Cotto Canelo would be a great fight!

Mayweather - Cotto would end up with Mayweather again be victorious in an even more lopsidded fight because Mayweather will know Cotto better.

 

It makes sense in terms of heavily lining Cotto and Mayweather's respective pockets again. The first fight was competitive but still a clear 8-4 Mayweather victory. Unless Cotto improves dramatically and destroys his next opponent (Pac @ 150 or Canelo), though, I don't see any reason for this fight. Barring a huge evolution from Cotto both stylistically and in terms of his gas tank (he was gassed after the 9th round against Floyd), I don't see how he can beat Mayweather.

I'd much rather see Cotto against Pacquiao, Canelo or Bradley. I think Cotto would wreck Bradley at 147. Cotto could still easily make Welterweight; he's not a big super welterweight by any means, and he only moved up there because it was a weak division offering some nice paydays at the time, and there were no other opponents for him at 147 after the Pacquiao fight.

 

it is a good fight but Mayweather will improve on the last fight. He is faster and he can hurt Cotto and will probably stop him late in the next fight. Cotto is a very very very good fighter. Not a great, but very very good.
