I'm far from a Roy Jones fan, I think his career has a ? over it due to the roid scandle and yes, I am aware that he has no chin.

This thread is not about that, however.

Let's take the Roy Jones Jr who fought Ruiz (One of the worst HW champions of all time) and put him against some of todays HW's.

EXCLUDING THE KLITSCHKO's AS RJJ HAD THE CHANCE TO FIGHT THEM BUT MOVED DOWN INSTEAD. And we all know they would Brutally KO him.

    Alexander Povetkin

    Tomasz Adamek

    Eddie Chambers

    Kubrat Pulev

    Robert Helenius

    Denis Boystov

    Ruslan Chagaev

    Chris Arreola

    David Haye

    Derick Chisora

    Tyson Fury

    (And for laughs) Nikolai Valuev.

How would he fare against each fighter listed?
    GO!

Good lord you make some shitty threads. Why not make a thread about Floyd fighting cruiserweights? It would be equally valid.

2-4. It wasn't like Roy wasn't hit all night, although it was a rarity. Ruiz isn't the biggest banger but I fail to see how someone as skills as Fury would even land on Jones. I'd take Haye, Chisora and Povetkin to beat jones purely because they have some power and skill (maybe not Chisora, but his stamina and work rate woukd really push Jones) whilst the likes of Adamek, Chambers and Arreola are probably 50-50 fights.

    SNV KO1 RJJ

Floyd has never talked about moving up to CW and becoming a Champion there whilst Roy did call out Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, and more before moving up to HW for one joke fight against a handpicked Feather Fisted opponent with no talent and no skill. He then proceeded to ride his bike and fight at a David Haye-esque workrate, win his trinket belt, and then run back down to LHW to avoid Vitali. Seeing as how he and his fans actually refer to Jones as a HW "Champion", I think it is fine to compare him to HWs of other generations.

cant help but point this out. roy fought Ruiz in 2005. and you are right..horrible champ and a cherry pick of belt holders, but who would have thought 5 years later in 2010 they would have dug John Ruiz after not having any top 10 wins since roy spanked him and only a few fights at best would he be "the mandatory" challenger for hayes paper belt? :rofl
where does that rank on title challengers, being he was one of the worst champions ever?

Because Jones actually fought and won a title at Heavyweight, you ****ing dick.

People make threads about Floyd fighting at middlweight even though he has never done so, your comparison is utterly ******ed.

In his prime he could beat all of them. I think he'd have the most trouble against Haye and Chambers and might lose against either one. All the others are nothing special, something which Roy was when he was in his prime.

Speaking of Roy at HW, I think he should move back up for a fight with Vitali. It could be marketed as the match that could have happened in '03 and they are about the same age, Vitali being just a bit younger. Great fight, I think.

No, he wasn't, he was a beltholder, nothing more and nothing less. The Champion was Lennox Lewis. That is a Fact.

    OH RLY?

Lit bit of math for you :

160 (middleweight) - 154 (Where floyd has fought twice now) = 8 pound difference.

250 (average Helenius weight) - 195 (being generous for jones' HW weight) == 55 pound difference.

Yeah, that's an incredibly fair comparison to Floyd fighting at Middleweight. :patsch

Maybe some day you'll learn a few things about the sport and how Heavyweight doesn't have a weight limit, and thus the size disparity can be massive, especially for a fighter moving into that weight from the lower divisions.

Back to being a poor man's chinchecker, I guess?
