Former ATG fighter Jimmy Bivins has died. Word outta Cleveland is he died early this morning. Bivins had been in bad health in recent years and it appears the Grim Reaper paid him a visit this morning... R.I.P.

Sad to hear about his neglect a few years ago, it seems he had some good last years though. He really was a top fighter with great skills. If he was around today he would be a force...

He was very light though, most of his career was fought in the 170lbs area. he frequently fought much bigger men and once out-slicked Ezzard Charles. sparked out Archie Moore an lots of other fighters of note.

He would today have to fight at cruiser at most where even there he would be massively outsized, hell, id wager he could of gotten to super middle and fought there aswell as light heavy where maybe he would of been best suited. A very tough man, in a very tough era. RIP.

I suppose if one has to checkout, the fourth of July is a good day to do it in America...

Ex-Presidents John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe have all died on July 4th.....

Boxers usually dont have the same life span as "normal" people. You can only take so many detrimental blows to the head before soemthign bad happens (I know). So he led a full life and hopefully a happy one. This sport rarely gives back. All the best to hsi fmaily and RIP

He made the news unfortunately in the 90's when he was found living in squalor and virtually imprisoned in a relative's attic. He was rescued from that situation, thankfully and presumably lived in more comfortable surroundings for the remainder of his life. Still, he deserved way better than to have to endure something like that, because he was by all accounts a class guy outside the ring and a terrific fighter inside of it.

Charles, Burley, Marshall and Moore were the Murderer;s Row of the Light Heavyweight division in the 40's. Bivens held victories over all of them. That's pretty incredible.

RIP to one of the best Light Heavyweights to lace 'em up.

RIP, champ. I'm relieved he was able to live out the rest of his life in better conditions than what they found him in in the 90's. Boxing can never have too many guys like Jimmy Bivins involved in it.
